I seem to remember Graham Wheldon banging on about a draw bias that manifests itself when the going eases on this track, as it may well do tomorrow. Does anyone know which half of the track is being used tomorrow? Think it was far side of the far side track under the trees he reckoned, but I’ll stand correction…

RP reports it as ‘far side course’.

Just seen that Reet, thanks- worth watching the first race or 2 to see if there’s anything in it.

The draw bias, if there is one, can be very hard to call on the July course and watching those early races is the only way to find out if the draw is favouring either side.

In my experience, the middle of the (undivided) course seems the best place to be if there is any give in the ground. This equates to high numbers when the far side course is used and low numbers when the near side course is used. So, today it should be high numbers favoured, but I’ll wait and see.

Race two will be the most telling with 20 runners stretched across the course

I’d be careful there. I’d suggest most of the guaranteed pace in that race is mid/low, and any track bias that seems to come around from that race could prove a red herring.

    Fair point David

Am at the course now and my initial impression is the rain does not seem to have got into the ground too much.

the rain only started here at about 8:00 and it is not as heavy here as it was when I was driving here.

They are actually out with the measuring sticks as I write this – will update when th ewhite smoke appears.
