The last time I ever back a horse trained by AOB and ridden by Joseph. Magician was the final straw. he blamed the ground and yet Magician, I think, won on heavy ground at Chester, after which Ryan Moore said how impressed he was. It’s all far too mysterious for me

Should’ve said ‘THEY blamed the ground’

I think you’re trying to blame the jockey for your lack of form study on this one, sorry Joe.

Beating Contributer and Glacial Age at Chester hardly proves that Magician could run to his Irish Guineas and Breeders Cup Turf winning best on that sort of ground.

The question to be asked is would Joeseph get the rides and be in effect stable jockey if he was not O’Brien’s son and I think we all know the answer to that. A big NO.

I have been very critical of Joseph’s riding however I must admit that Anastasia (sister) was brilliant to day in fact she was beyond brilliance!Race four at Fairyhouse today 5/29.Boy did she never give up.

I assume you mean War Envoy in the 4pm.
A very strange ride, where he almost fell off late on as the horse veered away from the whip or slap down it’s head.
    Another poor ride

As usual Aidan takes the blame "I might have left him a bit short" we are getting used to that line whenever Joe messes up.

His weight distribution is all wrong IMO,and his sectionals could be re-set to the clock in his head.

War envoy to me wasn’t liking the ground hence the reason aob will run him in the Coventry where hopefully he will get better ground. The horse had only won a maiden so no reason to be so odds on. Joseph gave due diligence and table rock super rides later on but as usual that’s not mentioned. Do you really think cool more, with their billion dollar operation wouldn’t hesitate to ease Joseph out of the no 1 position if they felt they had to. Remember the horses weren’t right at the start of the season so expect a flood of winners late June where we will get horses like marvellous improve greatly from their previous run.

Difficult to get any better going anywhere than at Naas yesterday.

Ballydoyle don’t wait until a horse runs to determine their ability. Most of their good ones start off money on first time out. They rely on the home gallops to decide how good their horses are. Many trainers in Ireland judge their two year olds on how they run against the Ballydoyle starters. The two O’Brien trained winners at Naas were steering jobs.
Most other yards with so much talent would use apprentices.None at Ballydoyle either before or since Joseph had that role.(Bolger trains great apprentices as well as using his son-in- law and trains great horses too!).I am not saying anything negative about young Mr.O’Brien just that he is your normal, average rider. That in my opinion does not entitle him to be first jockey at Ballydoyle. As someone said with any other name we would never hear of him.

It was good to yielding at Naas yesterday. War Front horses are best when the ground is absolutely rattling, so even that little bit of juice could catch them out.

It certainly caught Joseph O’Brien out.Did you ever notice how Aidan jumps in to explain that it is his fault when ever joe’s screw up is obvious. The horses were not ready for Meydan. That is the latest on why Joseph lost on both his big rides over there. Yesterday he is reported to say that he had left War Envoy a little short of work! Nothing about the pathetic effort of the jockey.

One reason many jockeys don’t fancy the balldoyle gig is that aob is an incredible taskmaster. Hence the reason no jockey lasts that long in the post. Just look at how well Johnny murtagh did after he left the pressure cooker of ballydoyle. As others have said the two horses who got beat at naas didn’t like the ground as many previews of the races stated. To me Joseph is no worse than a Hughes or a spencer. He doesn’t get it right all the time but knows the horses very well and rides them accordingly. All about opinions.

    Seems like he is no incredible task master when Joseph is concerned.You really think Murtagh could not handle the pressure? He who rode Breeders Cup winners for Oxx and Derby winners for Oxx and Arc winners for Oxx? Is Joseph going to bloom like Johnny when he too leaves to make room for his sister? {Remember Paddy Mullins who insisted that his son Tony was better than John Joe O’Neill to ride Dawn Run in the Gold Cup? Nobody else but JJ would have won on her.That is the trap parents get into with blood.All their little geese are swans.}
The simple question one has to answer is do you consider Joe to be the equal to Roach, Kinane,Fallon,Murtagh(all multiiple Derby winners,Arc winners,and/or BC winners) etc? If not yes then why does he take their place? Incidentally my answer is an emphatic NO.

"The best TV ride Joseph has ever given a horse. He became a man today and set aside the ”nice boy” approach and showed the world what he was capable of doing. I have always likened him to Lester in style, now he has shown Lester”s sheer determination".
This I took from the Racing Post.It so exactly expressed my feelings after the race that I cannot add to it.However two swallows don’t make a summer.I know, I know don’t tell me.
