Looks like 3 very exciting French horses are going to be with Jonjo O’Neill in 2010.
Rock Noir, Sway, and Temple Lord all coming over to England.
Very excited to see Rock Noir over here personally, looks a very good, exciting horse, and still very young too.
Again, JP McManus supporting horse racing for the UK.

Exciting recruits it has to be said, but I’m surprised he’s sending them to Jonjo. You’d think he’d want to at least give them a chance of winning a race.
November 25, 2009 at 15:38 #260442Gutted – they are both so promising too.
Sway might make up into a Mares Hurdle horse in time but it’s hard to see what else there’ll be for her and Rock Noir’s future is over fences, with JJ O’Neill training it’ll be at Carlisle rather than Cheltenham though
November 25, 2009 at 16:34 #260448He bought them ages ago.
November 25, 2009 at 16:40 #260449He bought them in May/June time but it wasn’t decided who they were going to.

If they are good enough, they are with the right trainer!
November 26, 2009 at 09:08 #260547He’d have been better off leaving them with Marc Rolland and Guy Cherel – would have a better chance of winning top races even in the UK.
Would much prefer he’d send them to someone like Henderson who won’t spend 18 months pratting around with their handicap marks over fences and getting there current ratings (somewhere in the 150’s or 160’s over hurdles) into the low 120’s over the bigger obstacles.
November 26, 2009 at 15:35 #260614Where does all this Jonjo ill-will come from. I don’t follow it too closely but do horses that leave Jonjo’s care suddenly improve 2 stone?

Garde Champetre has improved to a mark of 160 (from 128) with Enda Bolger having been pummelled in novice chase after novice chase under O’Neill.
Other than that, Spitfire, I can’t recall many horses being removed from Jonjo so meaningful statistics are thin on the ground. However, it can’t be argued that he hasn’t done as well as he should have with the ammunition he’s been provided (it’s surely no co-incidence that McManus suddenly has plenty of horses with Nicky Henderson).
November 26, 2009 at 22:41 #260667Don’t rate him – simples.
Yeah he has lots of winners, yeah he has big winners so where’s the logic – there isn’t any , i just don’t rate him same as Hobbs.
I get the impression that lots of horses should have done better than they did under those two.
Just an example today, i thought last year that Supreme Keano looked a nice horse making all and jumping well to win at Chepstow. In two runs this year AP has dropped him in and he’s jumped horribly. There may well be a reason for the change in tactics but if it aint broke don’t fix it.
November 27, 2009 at 09:22 #260705Theatrical Moment – 3/3 in Bumpers beating whatever he was put up against very easily including in a re-arranged G2 at Aintree. His runs for O’Neill – shocking by comparison.
