Don’t want to start another thread for this and as this is Joni’s thread and he knows quite a bit about Sir H’s string! What’s the latest on Beauty Parlour?
I see she has entries later this month then next month on Champions Day but I’d have thought Sir H would want to get a race into her before then
Edit to say is TC likely to take his chance in the St Leger
September 9, 2012 at 19:11 #412551Hi Martin
Latest on Beauty Parlour is she is working really well and is all ready to run. Quite where that will be I am not sure. A month or so ago Sir H was talking about the QEII as her ultimate goal for this season as he thought she didn’t quite get home in the Prix Diane. If this WAS the case I would think the Sun Chariot would be the race for her. However the other day I read that they are thinking of the BC Fillies and Mare Turf in which case perhaps the Prix De L’Opera would be more suitable. Personally I hope she takes the mile route and runs on Champions Day. I still have serious hopes for HC winning the trainers title but he would need her running well in the QEII.
Sir Rob’s racing manager told us last week that TC is going for the Leger. The 33’s have now gone but you can still get 25’s about the King Edward winner. Bearing in mind he was backed in to 10’s just before the Voltigeur which was a NOTHING race. I wouldn’t read anything into that race and honestly think he has the beating of the two Gosden horses. Obviously Camelot is another matter.
The one thing I WOULD say is that TC looks like he would be suited by a bit more cut than he is likely to get.

September 9, 2012 at 19:15 #412552Who won, you or the wife?

We have a lot of issues Steve but she is NEVER physically violent to me. She doesnt need to be. She has a stare that chills my blood. My best mate calls her POD – The Princess of Darkness. She doesnt know she he calls her that. God in heaven help him if she ever found out.

September 10, 2012 at 23:33 #412730Well it’s way past my bed time but I am watching the most amazing tennis match. Can Andy finally do it?!!! As I speak he is 2 sets to 1 up but has just been broken by a rejuvenated Djokovic!
As I backed Murray to win the tournament I am betting in play and have just noticed that some bookies have priced up
Liber Nauticus
for the Oaks. I know it is a long way off but nothing has impressed me more than this filly so far this season so I have had a bit of fun at 25-1.

September 13, 2012 at 07:39 #412948Two for me today for the inform Cecil yard. The rain has come for both and I am surprised to see Hills offering 9-4 about
Wild Coco
. This race looks easier than the one she won last time out and I would expect her to improve for that as it was her first run in a long time and she has had plenty of time to get over it.
Specific Gravity
is still on a winnable mark on this gound and I would expect him to go close. 7-2 will do for me.
We’ll double up as well!

Unlucky darts joni
Thought Wild Coco was very game as the queen’s horse looked to have stolen the race.
Specific ran a decent race and hopefully will pick up another race before the season’s endI see there’s a wee bit give in the ground now so hopefully increases TC’s chances for the Leger
September 14, 2012 at 19:20 #413114Al Time wins nicely at 5s and I was on
September 14, 2012 at 20:59 #413125Nice one BM! Of course I missed her having backed her every time before!!!

Looking forward to TC tomorrow. Can’t see him not being placed and have been topping up on all these 25’s and 28’s. If he hadnt run in that joke of a race at York he would 8’s or 9’s tomorrow.

September 15, 2012 at 08:43 #413169I am giving
Strong Suit
one last chance! ONE LAST CHANCE STRONG SUIT DO YOU HEAR!!!! 9-4 is a big price I think.
I have also backed
Ursa Major
(16’s) alongside TC for the Leger.

September 19, 2012 at 19:49 #413704Just seen a very nice filly from Sir H. Hot Snap is a half sister to Midday and has won on her debut – something the family tend not to do. A tonic for Sir H after the nightmare that poor Timepiece endured today!!!

And Flow wins nicely at Yarmouth today. Sir H has them firing just now

I see one of his french imports is entered at Gowran Park on Sunday
September 21, 2012 at 18:10 #413871Yes he has them going nicely. In recent years he has taken to giving them a mid summer break during August so they come back fresh in September and we are seeing the benefits of that now.
I am really looking forward to next weekend when we should see Beauty Parlour in the Sun Chariot. She is getting lots of positive mentions from the gallops reports and hopefully she can win this en route to the QEII.
There is also an interesting newcomer tomorrow called
Just One Kiss
. Interesting because Queally rides this as opposed to Specific Gravity in a valuable handicap at Newbury.

September 25, 2012 at 19:53 #414205A bit disappointed to see Ektihaam so short for tomorrow’s comeback run. He is a horse I like but 11-8 is too short for me after a long lay off. I would still expect him to win though.

September 25, 2012 at 20:19 #414212Am pleased to see Johnny G has supplemented
Winsili
for the Fillies Mile and 10-1 is good value in my opinion so I have backed her ew. She was badly positioned lto out the back off a slow pace but made eye catching late headway. I think Newmarket will suit her and I really liked the way she won her maiden.

September 27, 2012 at 14:04 #414320I like this
Gallipot
in the next. Have backed her to win at 4-1.

September 27, 2012 at 21:25 #414355Not much to bet on this week but Glorious Goodwood just round the corner and I will be there on Wednesday of course!
I have had a couple of fun bets today though. I am not sure AOB is a 1-8 shot to win the trainers title. He is only a few hundred thousand ahead of JG and there is no doubting who has his string in better form at the moment. I am looking at the big races ahead and apart from Camelot in the Leger I am not sure how many of them AOB is going to win. He may not even win that one!
I have backed
JG at 7-2
with Laddies and had a bit of fun at 33’s with
Sir H
. Before you laugh, he is 1.7m behind AOB but has the potential to earn 1.3 just from Frankel. Add in Beauty Parlour in the QEII and you have another 550,000. A long shot but worth a quid or two I think.
A good win for Gallipot today and am very hopeful for Winsili tomorrow.
I posted the above back in July and I see today Johnny G is the new favourite! With the AOB string definitely struggling it looks like JG’s to lose but Excelebration could change all that if he wins the £550,000 QEII. Still havent given up on Sir H who is now 16’s and it will be interesting to see how Beauty Parlour goes on Saturday as she could actually win it for him on Champions Day.

September 28, 2012 at 07:47 #414376Great meeting this one at Newmarket and another reason the flat is leagues in front of the jumps for me. How many of these fantastic meetings are there during the season? 10? 12? 14? It just keeps coming. There are maybe 3 over the jumps and only 1 really counts.
On to today and as well as Winsili at 10’s I have two more bets.
Thistle Bird is a great price in my opinion. She could have run in the Joel Stakes and had a great chance but her astute trainer has kept her at a level at which she has never lost. I have backed her to win at 7-2.
The Joel Stakes looks ultra competitive and to be honest there are any number that could win it. EF has done a very good write up on the Big Races page and fancies Trumpet Major but I just can’t be having the 3 year olds this year. They really are a rancid bunch to coin a phrase from a recently departed member and I think one should concentrate on the older brigade. With the Gosden string in great nick, Joviality must go close but the one I wll take a chance with is Sir Michael’s
Tazahum
ew at 11-1. He has little to find with some of the principals as he finished virtually upsides Side Glance at York and was an unlucky loser lto. I have always thought he has the looks to be a very good horse but has never quite delivered up to his potential. There are signs that could be changing now and I would be hopeful of a good run. If a 3 year old is going to win it I think it is more likely to be Most Improved. Keiron Fallon is adamant this is a Group 1 horse but he threw in such a stinker last time that I can’t be having him.
