YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!
Winter is over and like the squirrel I am out of hibernation.
My first season without Sir Henry horses to look forward to but still plenty of reasons to think it should be a great year.
I love the World Cup meeting and always like a bet or two. You might remember I got off to a flyer last year with 4 out of 5 winners. I can’t promise the same tonight but here goes anyway!
I’m going to start with a speculative punt on a horse I’ve always liked Mull of Killough. He has run well without winning in Group 1 company and has an ew chance.
The mild winter has been good news for the British horses and I hear they are much further forward than usual. This has to be good news for followers of AOB and I expect him to have a big night. I am backing Giovanni Boldini, Magician AND Ruler of the World.
I also like Dank who is a typical Sir Michael improver and should finish in the three and I have also had a bit of fun with Prince Bishop who is bang in form and might get the run of the race from an inside berth. So:
[b:49pvqgbj]£25 ew Mull of Killough – 12-1 lost[/color:49pvqgbj]
£75 win Giovanni Boldini – 5-2 lost[/color:49pvqgbj]
£25ew Dank – 13-2 placed[/color:49pvqgbj]
£75 win Magician – 3-1 lost[/color:49pvqgbj]
£50ew Ruler of the World – 5-1 lost[/color:49pvqgbj]
£25ew Prince Bishop – 12-1 lost[/color:49pvqgbj]Total – -£335[/color:49pvqgbj]

March 29, 2014 at 14:03 #473622All the best for this season Joni. I am with you on Magician but I don’t fancy Ruler Of The World, there are enough question marks for me to oppose him at the odds. I am always wary of The Fugue as she seems to find trouble too often for my liking.
Have a profitable day!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 29, 2014 at 17:29 #473642Ouch – I am suffering here. Ryan Moore leaves it too late twice and then as soon as I desert him he gets it right and JOB gets trapped on Magician! Not happy!

Hope your not deserting Lady C tho
March 31, 2014 at 21:00 #473828Always glad to see you back Joni. What do you think of
Tapestry
for the 1000gns/Oaks double then?
April 8, 2014 at 21:06 #475033Sorry guys – have been in Qatar so missed your good wishes! Thanks though!
Gord – I think Tapestry is more of an Oaks filly to be honest though I think that Ihtimaal could be the one to beat there – she is a beast now. I’m holding fire on the Guineas as I think the trials will tell us a lot this year. I haven’t even given up on Joyeuse yet as she will improve for the winter and a step up in trip.
Talking of which I will be at Newbury this Saturday with my twins so would love to see you or Ginge or anyone!

April 11, 2014 at 17:13 #475246Can’t wait for Newbury tomorrow and looking forward to seeing an old favourite and my outside bet for the Guineas.
Noble Mission
is an old donkey but a talented one who always runs his race and goes well fresh and on the ground. Tomorrow might just be his day. He has reportedly been working very well.
The same comment applies to
Joyeuse
. Henry loved her and had high hopes for her and she certainly looked the part in her first two races. I always thought she would benefit from slightly further and, being the half sister to the Greatest Of All Time, has the scope to improve considerably from 2 to 3. She likes the ground and is already being backed. I am taking the 9-2.
I’ll double up on them as well.
£50ew Noble Mission – 2.25 Newbury – 5-1
£50ew Joyeuse – 2.55 Newbury – 9-2
£25ew double the two."this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
April 11, 2014 at 17:51 #475250One further bet. It was hard not to be taken in by Night of Thunder’s two wins on soft ground last year and I reckon he has lot less questions to answer than the favourite. I’ll take a bit of the 7-2.
£100 win Night of Thunder – 7-2 – 2.50 Newbury

See you tomorrow Joni, probably best for you to find me around the pre-parade ring, as last time. Look out for the cap!
Just don’t bring the After-timing King.
Value Is EverythingApril 12, 2014 at 07:47 #475331You are easily spotted!!! Look forward to seeing you there Mark

April 12, 2014 at 09:09 #475343Noble mission does run well this time of year, getting the ‘good’ he needs, running just off The pace in this race should suit
April 12, 2014 at 10:54 #475385One further bet. It was hard not to be taken in by Night of Thunder’s two wins on soft ground last year and I reckon he has lot less questions to answer than the favourite. I’ll take a bit of the 7-2.
£100 win Night of Thunder – 7-2 – 2.50 Newbury
The ground is now described as Good at Newbury Joni. The vibes have been positive for Night Of Thunder but I have a feeling he may be taking on an above average candidate in Kingman.
There will probably be a big shake up in the 2000 Guineas market tonight and it’s just about possible we may see a new favourite if Kingman wins well.
Have a good day out all.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 12, 2014 at 17:03 #475467Kingman sure is the new Guineas fav Steve. Wow! Impressive. Am a bit annoyed though, available @ 3/1 immediately afterwards and now I’m home – only 7/4.
Although he had to win today, being the choice of both Master and Miss Jonibake!
Nice meeting you today Joni, and your betting advisors.
Value Is EverythingApril 12, 2014 at 19:30 #475475You too Mark. You were very popular with master and miss! They are already looking forward to the Lockinge.
Yes I think we saw a very good horse today. At halfway I thought NOFT was travelling like the winner but Kingman came there swinging two out and was super impressive. As Ginge said he looked like he would improve the run so he would have to be very hard to beat IF they run him next month.
Noble Mission ran a typical race, coming there full of running and finding little. He’ll be hard to win with but they’ll have some fun with him.
I thought James Doyle gave Joyeuse plenty to do but she still ran a very nice race without ever looking like getting involved. I hope they still aim her at Newmarket as I would give her an ew shout on decent ground.
