There will be more bets tomorrow but thought I would post one now as there is no way
Cape Pero
n should be 11-4 for tomorrow’s 7.00 at Donny. This colt looked very nice when he won first time out at Newbury and I think he could be group class so a mark of 87 should be well within his compass.
£200 win Cape Peron – 11-4 – 7.00 Doncaster
Only just seen this post Joni and a belated congratulations from me,11/4 was taken shrewdly by a shrewd judge,Well done.I was convinced he’d be raised 10lb for his efforts but 13lb still seems fair as he could end up a 110+ colt such was the impression he created. He’ll get the full 9-7 in the Brittannia off 100 so doesn’t want to run again in between. What would concern me though is he’ll go 11/4fav for the Britannia but he’d get a 6/1 quote for the Jersey
and imo thats where he’ll go.Watch those Bets boys!May 23, 2013 at 14:17 #440479Sorry for the absence boys – have been in hospital!
Managed to knock myself out on the astroturf playing football last night. Apparently I was like Basil Fawlty in that one with the Germans! Didn’t know where the hell I was.
Thankfully they discharged me just in time to get on Continuum!
All good now and will take a peek at Stan James!

I wouldn’t bother Joni. I phoned them earlier and they told me I’d been given ‘wrong information’ yesterday and that there wouldn’t be a market formed until a week or so before the race
Hills offered me 7/1 though if that interests.May 24, 2013 at 17:26 #440579More bets to come tomorrow I hope but one I have been waiting for is
Pintrada
in the 4-00 at York. Livid that I have missed the 16’s about a horse who was denied any sort of run last week but is progressive. He needs luck in running as he is normally held up but I am hoping he can go close off a feather weight.
£50 ew Pintrada 10-1 – 4.00 York

May 24, 2013 at 23:48 #440632Hi Jonibake. As the site’s resident Sir Henry Cecil expert, what’s your opinion on Chigun’s chances at the Curragh tomorrow? I like Weld’s Caponata but to be honest I don’t know a great deal about the English hoss.
May 25, 2013 at 09:33 #440673Hi THM. Well Sir Hen doesnt often send them over there and the last time he did Chachamaidee won, albeit in the stewards room. This is a fast improving filly who has been going well at home and is almost certainly Ascot bound. Like you I think the Weld horse is the danger and there are too many unknowns for me to have a bet but I think whoever beats Chigun wins.
Elsewhere I am having two bets –
The Irish 2,000 looks a good opportunity for
Van Der Neer
and I have backed him at 7-2. His form is pretty rock solid. I have also had a little ew on
George Vancouver
as I would be livid if he ran well on his fast ground and I had not backed him.
I have also given
Stipulate
one last chance and backed him ew in the first at Goodwood. He is very consistent and goes well at the track and might have a fitness advantage over his two main rivals. Obviously Afsare is a huge danger if fit so I have also done a reverse forecast.
£50 win Van Der Neer – 7-2 – Irish 2,000
£25 ew George Vancouver – 12-1 – Irish 2,000
£50 ew Stipulate 4-1 – Goodwood 2.05

Thanks for the reply Joni, Weld’s filly is now a non runner leaving Chigun the general 7/4 favourite. With Caponata out I might have a few euros on Chigun. The rest of the opposition are respected but no great shakes at the same time.
May 25, 2013 at 11:10 #440696Thanks for the heads up THM. I’m in!

A small loss on the day but an enjoyable day’s racing.Pintrada was given too much to do off a slow pace but I think he is still one to keep an eye out for.
Van Der Neer must have had something amiss. George Vancouver hasn’t trained on. The winner looked class – they MUST be tempted by the Derby.
Stipulate continues to frustrate. I personally think they should try and make all on him as I think he is better than he is showing.
Chigun was mightily impressive and it will be Royal Ascot next for her. She looks like she could make up into a Group 1 filly – perhaps the Nassau later in the year.
Tomorrow I have two bets.
Just The Judge
looks like the winner of the Guineas to me. I thought she ran a blinder at Newmarket as she was still in her coat and lacked a previous run. She looked all over the winner 100 yards out and I think she will be too good for these. I have Viztoria and Big Break in my TTTF’s but the ground might be too quick for both of them. I will back JTJ to win at 3’s.
Over in France I expect
Beauty Parlour
to be too good for her mostly Group 2 rivals. She has her ideal ground and, in my opinon, trip and she has reportedly been working very well recently. I have backed her to win at 7-2.
Just The Judge £100 win 3-1 – Irish 1,000 Guineas
Beauty Parlour £100 win 7-2 – Prix D’Ipshan"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"

Not sure there was anything wrong with Van Der Neer, I asked the question before the race about whether he would have the pace to be involved, being an ex Racing Post Trophy runner and all weather winner, facing really fast ground. There is also the worry that he couldn’t run down a 150/1 shot rated a stone and more lower in the Guineas.
If trends mean anything Just The Judge should win. I backed her at 20/1 for Newmarket and my ante-posters have a habit of turning up afterwards. Canford Cliffs did the same to me, I was on at 25/1 before the Coventry and it is a mystery that he didn’t manage to net the big one.
I am sticking a crap or bust bet on Just The Judge today. Caviar or value crabsticks awaits for dinner tonight!!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 26, 2013 at 15:51 #440828Just The Judge £100 win 3-1 (10p deduction) – Irish 1,000 Guineas –
Beauty Parlour £100 win 7-2 – Prix D’Ipshan –
JTJ won well. Beauty Parlour disappointing – travelled well but didn’t pick up and must have big question marks now.Enjoy that caviar Stevey!!!!!

May 27, 2013 at 18:17 #440930So I am going to pop in to Lingfield tomorrow to have a glimpse of this Joyeuse. Very exciting!
Meanwhile over at Yarmouth I am going to give one more chance to Zeyran. She looked a nice horse when I saw her at Donny but has disappointed twice since. I am hoping the drop back in trip will help her settle better and hopefully she will start to show her potential. A mark of 71 could look very lenient.
£100 win Zeyran 3-1 – Yarmouth 7.10

May 27, 2013 at 19:07 #440943Joyeuse currently 5/4, worth a punt FTO IMO as the competition doesn’t look that great although the Johnston newcomer has a decent pedigree.
Any news on Hot Snap? Will we see her again this season?

I think the Hannon filly will be the biggest danger Rich. Benefit of a run and a decent one at that.
No news on Hot Snap unfortunately. They said they would give her time to get over the Guineas. I am hoping she might go to Ascot for the Coronation but haven’t even read a gallops report.

May 27, 2013 at 19:59 #440958Are you referring to Prisca? Wasn’t that fancied on her debut but stayed on well. However if this Joyeuse can live up to her illustrious pedigree she should have no problem if overcoming any greenness. I will probably have some on her but it will be more interesting to see how she fares.
Not sure about Zeyran personally as Great Expectations looked quite promising last time but good luck.

You are right – if she is as good as they have been saying she should be easily too good for these.

May 27, 2013 at 20:36 #440962So taking a peek at the weather forecast for the next couple of days it now seems almost certain that the Oaks will be run on at least good ground perhaps a fair bit softer. That has persuaded me to back
Secret Gesture
as a back-up to my AP on
Liber Nauticus
.
I was at York last week and I have to be honest I was underwhelmed by LN in the Musidora. I know it was her first run in a while and only her second ever but she has to improve a fair bit on that if she is going to win on Friday. On the other hand I was blown away by Secret Gesture at Lingfield. It might not have been a very strong field but that doesn’t bother me if they win like that. She clearly relishes a bit of cut and, importantly, I think her only other serious rival Moth would prefer quick ground especially as she is a doubtful stayer.
I still hope LN can run a big race for me but honestly think we could see a famous wide margin win for SN especially if it really does rain a lot.
£200 win Secret Gesture – 5-2 NRNB – Oaks
