I wouldn’t give up on Keredari.
August 6, 2011 at 10:44 #19352With Rubina racing in a group 2 in a 2yo race. is Rubina the 1st 2yo horse of Oxx to race in a group race since Sea The Stars won the Beresford stakes.Top of my mind i can’t think of any
August 6, 2011 at 12:56 #367382Good question,none are jumping out at me.
That said,Oxx is infamous for delicately handling 2 year olds and he hasn’t as many horses in training now. Unless he had a filly but I don’t think so.August 6, 2011 at 13:31 #367385So far in his mismanaged career he has trained but two Derby winners and two Arc winners.Pathetic.How many trainers go to bed with such a humble record? How about Sir Henry et al.
August 6, 2011 at 13:36 #367388You must be having a laugh. The man has about 40 group 1 wins to his name.
How many trainers would give anything to have that?
If he was English he’d be Sir John
August 6, 2011 at 14:08 #367393andyod – Sir Henry has trained 32 classic winners, including 4 Epsom Derby winers.
John Oxx is also an incredibly good trainer.August 6, 2011 at 18:54 #367427And how many Arcs would that be for Sir Henry?
August 6, 2011 at 19:12 #367432They are both excellent trainers but you seem a little pedantic andyod so I will answer no Arcs for Sir Henry.
However a few more stats for your delictation about Sir Henry my friend.
36 Classics ( I miscalculated earlier !)
397 Pattern Races
72 Royal Ascot winners.
1 Breeders Cup victory
1 Triple Crown winner
10 times Champion trainerGet a grip mate, and give credit where credit is due
August 6, 2011 at 20:16 #367441I’d swear you’re a troll.
Who do you rate as a trainer so?Will Hannon ever train an Arc winner?
Nope. Will he ever train a Derby winner?
You bet he won’tAugust 7, 2011 at 03:22 #367461AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
PLUS,
PLUS, He gets most of the horses he trains fromFor some reason???
I no he mainly gets Filly’s for breading, and geldings to Sell but he deserves much better than that from AGA !
August 7, 2011 at 16:32 #367506Whoa Coggy, slow down, you are going too fast. No need for statistics. Henry can trade on his name.I did not introduce a comparison with Henry,I just pointed out that he,Oxx had the trained enough Group one winners to sleep peacefully, with the unique distinction of two horses who did the Derby and Arc combo, not even Henry did that I was pointing out.Only Vincent surpasses Henry.Henry is a much loved character in English rscing. As for pedantic,I trust you don’t expect to read Shakespeare-like prose on the forum.Pedantic, well I declare.I looked it up. An ostentatious concern for book learning(whatever that means) and formal rules it says.I beg forgiveness if that be me.
August 8, 2011 at 08:59 #367535andyod – I misunderstood your post, and I apologise for that.
Sorry mateAugust 8, 2011 at 12:27 #367553Mourayan raced in the Beresford with Sea The Stars finishing 2nd
Baliyana raced in the Weld Park stakes (gr3) in 2008 on the same day
Rayeni & Virtruvian Man raced in the Killavullan Stakes (gr3)in 2008 finishing 1st and 2nd
Keredari (3rd) raced in the Killavullan Stakes (gr3) in 2009 at
Nothing in 2010
And then Rubina yesterday
Those are all that I can find
August 8, 2011 at 14:59 #367557Oxx’s record for me is incredibly uninspiring.
I don’t rate him anything above a good trainer.
To call him is a genius is laughable.
August 9, 2011 at 10:55 #367612Your uninspiring post baffles me
Who is a genius then?
August 9, 2011 at 11:32 #367616OXX IS A GENIOUS.ID SAY IF HGOT THE AMMUNITION O BRIEN OR CECIL GET HED HAVE SOME RECORD TOO.WHEN HE SENDS ONE ABROAD YOU KNOW IT WONT BE FAR AWAY….
August 9, 2011 at 14:21 #367624When thinking of the ammunition that Cecil gets please remember that at one stage he lost all the Sheikh Mohammed horses as they were re-routed to Godolphin ( my what a mistake that ws !). He also had to overcome the loss of many other owners whilst blighted by a ongoing virus which reduced him to training only a handful of winners.
Thankfully Prince Abdullah , and others, stuck by him, and are now reaping the rewards.
That in no way diminishes my admiration for John Oxx though, who I also rate highly -
