Does anyone else think John Mcririck is looking increasingly unwell recently i know his hands shake but he seems to be falling over his words on the morning line.
Today there were lots of pauses in his speech and he seemed dare I say it a little frail.
October 13, 2007 at 19:01 #119352Far from being his greatest fan, but I’ve noticed his hands shaking recently as well.
Hope he’s ok.
October 13, 2007 at 22:25 #119376I think it’s shock – someone has told him Edwina Currie is staying over for Christmas.

Tic-tac tick?

October 14, 2007 at 08:02 #119397Not keen on him, spouts a lot of rubbish but think he looks quite well for his age, many have been 6ft under for years at his age
October 14, 2007 at 09:30 #119400Wouldn’t usually wish anyone ill, but the thought of Matt Chapman picking up Laryngitus and giving us all a break, sounds like a wonderful thing.
Give me Big Mac anytime.Come to think of it even that probably wouldn’t stop "motor mouth" probably have to remove his voice box altogether to shut him up.

LOL
October 14, 2007 at 11:47 #119414I still maintain, that other than Frankie Dettori, Big Mac is the only other name that people outside of racing will recognise.
He has been on our screens for almost 25 years now, and despite some controversial moments, his many employers have stuck by him, so I dare say he is doing something right.
He is looking a bit fragile these days and I hope there is nothing too seriously wrong with him.

October 14, 2007 at 12:19 #119419wasn’t he one of the people instrumental in saving the Grand National when it was under threat a few years ago? I don’t know the details of it all, but, if true we should forgive him a lot of his faults and misdemeanours….
October 14, 2007 at 12:29 #119421I have always stuck up for big Mac against his detractors. He always laughs when someone says something disparaging against him ( ala Lesley Graham) and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He also said Arkle was without question the greatest racehorse of all time – which will do for me.

That said, he does appear to have went down hill of late – I too have noticed the shaking. He has also appeared a little more cantankerous with old age, if that’s possible – and I do wish he would drop the ignorant habit of looking about him when Tanya is delivering news of the exchanges – to the point of being dismissive of her. Something which incidentally, he has been pulled up about in the past.
Overall though, I do like the big fella. An eccentric (or "egregious buffoon" as Sir peter O’Sullevan called him ) who actually does know his racing. Now there’s a thing.

October 14, 2007 at 12:50 #119424alcohol, tobacco, too much/wrong food, no exercise, out of shape – it’ll get us all in the end – this last year i’ve decided enough is enough and it’s time to slow down and fitten up and i’ve got 20 yrs plus on jm

Himself – Are you sure?!!
Tic-tac-tick… Genius!!!
I think one of the best things racing could do is get rid of him – He’s a slight on the sport…. The comment that he is one of the most known people in racing is really quite a worry..
A pal of mine said to me the other day have you seen all this stuff about this Kieran geezer? Who is he? – Racing needs a facelift – Quickly

Now I’m no fan of Taaaaarnya but you should have heard him at Newmarket last week – "WHERE’S MY FEMALE??" he bellowed in an irritated voice, whilst she was sitting 3ft behind him!
He’s unbearably rude, usually to women – he doesn’t like to see them in the "business ends" of the racecourse, he sneers and/or looks down his nose at them. It drives me mad – a small amount of common courtesy and manners costs nothing.
As an aside – there seemed nothing wrong with him and he wasn’t shaking much at Kings Cross at ten to nine on Thursday morning when he was buying as much food as he could possibly carry! Not a pleasant sight first thing in the morning, I can tell you!
October 14, 2007 at 21:15 #119487I am no fan of the man, but the shaking hands, which have been obvious for over a year, are sadly are very worrying sign. I wouldn’t wish that on any one.
October 14, 2007 at 21:19 #119488….conversely, would you wish McCririck on anyone?

Not a big fan of McCririck either, but there are certain moments with this guy, and this was actually one of them, where the sheer buffoonery just makes me laugh.

Big Mac is "what you see is what you get" unlike that brown nose idiot Matt Chapman, "how far up I can get" one of these days his head is going to come out of one of those sycophants mouths.
