Here was the original article regarding Saeed Bin Suroor’s breakdown in communication with John Ferguson for those who did no see it…..
June 6, 2017 at 15:06 #1303656A turbulent week for the boys in blue to say the least. First Bin Suroor’s outrageous interview, then the whole debacle surrounding the UAE and Qatar, and now this.
Joe Osborne has been appointed interim chief exec, but it’s clear who really has the final say in Godolphin.

I don’t think that was ever in question.
Godolphin’s current strategy will never allow them to compete with Coolmore, because their trainers aren’t as good as AOB, and their stallions aren’t as good as the Coolmore bunch. They need to either replace SBS and Appleby with higher quality individuals, or disperse their horses amongst independent trainers to a greater degree (they’ve had some success doing this recently).

If you had of asked me who had the final say between Saeed Bin Suroor and John Ferguson last week I would have said Ferguson without a doubt, it’s now clear that it’s Bin Suroor.

Oh sorry, I thought you were referring to Sheikh Mo!
June 6, 2017 at 21:43 #1303682I was surprised when Ferguson gave up his ‘proper job’ as a successful trainer to become effectively a ‘racing manager’ which has always struck me as a bit of a non job,and certainly so compared to being a trainer in my opinion.
Money talks I suppose.Interesting to see that maybe loyalty to Bin Suroor has won out in the end in this story especially as it seems he has either been very indiscreet or has been right royally stabbed in the front by the Racing Post.
June 7, 2017 at 19:50 #1303732Pressure on big Saeed from now, then. He’s won the battle against Ferguson, so presumably he can expect above-average juvenile intake for the next couple of years. He absolutely MUST deliver results in the next 3-4 seasons, I’d venture.
I don’t rate either yard, but Appleby has shown steady year-on-year improvement since he joined the team. Saeed bin Suroor has achieved plenty in the game himself even if recent times have been lean. Personally I think his handling of Farhh equates to one of the greatest training performances by anyone in my lifetime – staggering that he was able to get such a fragile, fundamentally flawed horse to achieve so much. Look at Farhh’s constitution on the Darley website and you’ll be amazed he could even stand training.
Interesting mid-distant future lies ahead now.
