Some would say Denman still hasn’t recovered from Cheltenham a year later, Joe Lively runs after a hard run at Cheltenham 2 weeks later. He was carrying a top weight aswell.

I thought that was quite a big "ask" for Joe on Saturday too – sad to see him fizzle out so early on and now to hear he is injured.

Suicidal in running Joe Livley at Kempton after such a hard race at Cheltenham.

Even Lighting Strike who won on the same day at Doncaster on the same day two weeks ago struggled at Kempton.

Famous last words when trainers say that a horse has had a hard race but seem to have come out of it really well so are going to run them soon after; however, pleased to read that it is a nasty cut that hasn’t actually damaged the tendon itself but will take a while to heal…he’s such a smashing little horse, so will look forward to seeing him next season.

This was a desperate bit of bad luck.

Joe Lively had been in the form of his life and im sure he would of ran a huge race in the Gold Cup..He`s only a tiny horse but a real pocket battleship!

For me his victory at Cheltenham recently when giving Halcon Genelardais 6lbs (Now he`s one of the toughest stayers out there) was the highlight of the season so far.
