Can anybody tell me what the classifications are for the various weight claims jockeys have?
Is 7lb claim to have ridden no winners? How many for 5lb etc. Or where to find simple guide online.
I’m a bit out of touch!
And is there an age limit for conditionals (memory suggests it’s 25 or something)?
Thanks in anticipation!

Surely it’s not that tricky a question…
December 26, 2008 at 02:26 #199165It’s been posted before but I can’t find it:-
Riders’ allowances may be claimed as follows:
Apprentices:
* 7lb until they have won 20 races;
* 5lb until they have won 50 races;
* 3lb until they have won 95 races.Conditionals:
* 7lb until they have won 20 races;
* 5lb until they have won 40 races;
* 3lb until they have won 75 races.A jockey riding for their own stable over jumps can claim an extra 3 lb until they have ridden 5 winners.
December 26, 2008 at 05:38 #199187I know a jockey who claims to have "had my mum"; on the other hand, she swears she’s never met him.
