Has anyone any comment? Was his horse unbalanced? It seemed to me that he rode the finish at least 6 lengths before the line! was an enquiry called? blinkin’ football mad other half turned it over to watch Argentina so I don’t know and can find no trace in the press…
June 12, 2010 at 19:09 #300186He told the stewards he got pains in his legs half a furlong out. The truth is he mistook the winning post, Sandown have recently introduced a very strange looking post half a furlong out, they like they’re posts at Sandown, still got 2 winning ones
June 12, 2010 at 19:26 #300189Cheers Eddie, I would be madder but I also picked Stevie Thunder and Pastoral Player on the scoop 6 to lose, but I’ll sleep sounder knowing at least the stewards picked him up
June 12, 2010 at 19:56 #300196It’s something of an issue I have with the rules on a horse racing for the best finishing position. To my mind, he wouldn’t have won in any case & the horse didn’t lose any positions.
Thinking about it, considering he’d basically stopped racing before the line, it doesn’t say much for the horses that finished behind him does it?
June 12, 2010 at 20:48 #300202We were discussing this afterwards.
It is anomaly in the rules in that because he did not lose a position all that happens is a quiet word from the stewards, yet had he been done for third spot he would have picked up a 10 day ban ….. and the way the Sandown stewards were dishing out bans this afternoon I’m sure he would have been done if at all possible.
OK he didn’t lose a place but that was probably more by luck than judgement.
He was a very lucky boy today.
