Reading about the Japanese horse Meisho Samson coming over for this year’s Arc got me wondering whether all the lunatic Japanese punters would be coming over in their droves to take 1/10 about their horse again this year? Who are these guys for goodness sake?
Well, for an insight into their rather simple psyche, take a look at today’s letters in the Racing Post. One crazy Jap, writing under the name of "Glenn Alcoe" was serving up Yutake Take as a decent jockey – PMSL <!– s:lol: –>
<!– s:lol: –> . This unfortunate also seemed to be under the impression that Richard Hills is the leading jockey over here. <!– s:oops: –>
<!– s:oops: –>I’ll be looking out for this poor character in Paris in October, no doubt arriving in his Deep Impact T shirt, his Hamdan al maktoum cap, and clutching a copy of that weekj’s Weekender, with its obligatory Paul Haigh article telling us what a certainty Meisho Samson is….

August 17, 2007 at 20:48 #111628I was asking a Japanese punter the other day why she didn’t put her Deep Impacto bets on with No Morals @5/2. Something to do with a 12 snarlers max on the beast on her account – whether those snarlers were pounds or Yen wasn’t entirely clear.

As for leading jockeys, I merely looked for the guy with the highest strike rate in the UK jockey tables and also noted that he had performed the minor miracle of making at level stakes profit on all mounts from the rigged SP system you have in Britain.
Oh, and any time No Morals want to pit their wits against us lunatics in our ‘Yutake Take – international jockey of the world’ t-shirts be sure to let me know. I know a few Japanese punters that would fancy their chances.

August 18, 2007 at 02:12 #111644I really don’t know why Yutake Take gets so much stick .. I don’t think he’s particularly good or bad.
August 18, 2007 at 04:26 #111653They won’t be able to bet on much this weekend. Due to further detected cases of equine influenza JRA have cancelled Saturday and Sunday race meetings at 3 venues. And several Jappie horses have recently arrived in Singapore
We might have a holiday too
Naaaaaaa not really I’m sure they don’t have so much as a sniffle.August 18, 2007 at 07:22 #111658Well i for one hope they turn up again, i`m always grateful for the creation of a false market, 10-1 a 5-2 shot will be very welcome, irrelevent of result

With regards to Yutake Take he struggles when he`s in Europe, especially France, judgement of pace appears to be his weak spot!!
