I thought he would leave at some point but was hoping he got the job as 2nd rider at Coolmore, plenty of opportunities to win G1’s as shown this season

Thought that too. Plus of course the chance of being no1 at coolmore. With the firepower the lads have for the next few seasons I doubt Ryan going anywhere soon.

I wondered that as well, HDLG. He has ridden a few winners for Appleby. The official line is they are not appointing a second jockey but Buick cannot be everywhere.

Probably wanted a 1st retainer jockey job again instead of feeding on the Appleby/Suroor scraps that Buick discards – being second to Godolphin, I doubt that he viewed being second jockey at Coolmore (assuming it was even available) as being anything different.

This new operation looks to be quite an interesting move – hopefully that means he will now be on Courage Mon Ami and will actually ride the horse a lot closer to the pace than he has been the last few times he has run.

Yeah, Rossa Ryan is excellent and flying atm Nath. James Doyle is an exceptional rider, better than Buick pound for pound, but obviously Buick has long been first choice.
