I don’t know what to make of it all…is this for real she only has a couple of months to live?
I admit I’m not her biggest fan but I think fair play to her…you lived in the media and you die in the media….
Don’t really know what else to say…
February 18, 2009 at 22:49 #210958Funny you should post this, we were having a talk about it in our house last night.
The missus was all full of sadness because she is going to be dead from a woman’s illness. It is a bit of a shame for her and her kids and all that.
On the other hand she is a vile racist and if she had keep her drawers on she wouldn’t have got it anyway.
I don’t know, maybe the politically correct brigade will be dancing in the streets?
February 18, 2009 at 23:16 #210962A ghastly woman, but in the circumstances let the milk of human kindness prevail…so all the best to her in the short time she’s apparently got left
February 19, 2009 at 02:11 #211007That’s about how I feel Drone. You’ve got to feel sorry for her, however unbearable she’s been in the past.

I concur with you Drone.
This Jade Goody saga perfectly illustrates this whole sorry "personality" obsession that we seem to have in society. Where a talentless nobody is thrust into the public eye for doing nothing whatsoever. Then the whole thing turns into a freak show.
I read somewhere at the weekend that when she does finally die they expect the reaction to be the same in some quarters as when Princess Di dies – please spare us that!!!
Even the one eyed idiot has been eulogising about her.
I suppose the only "good" thing to come out of this is, apparently, more young women are now going for smear tests – so that cannot be too bad.
February 19, 2009 at 15:32 #211111A young mother and by all accounts a good one. God bless her at this awful time.

Does it not strike anyone as wholly indicative of the person she has been that she’s now milking the media for her family, rather than spending every waking moment raising money for charity (I’m sure many organisations need as much help as they can get at the moment and Jade Goody would, in all honesty, be a god-send) as many others have done? Surely her ridiculous and, frankly, detestable rise to ‘fame’ has already afforded her children a comfortable future? Or would her time not be better spent just being with the children whose final memories of her will include the vacant gaze adorning every national newspaper?
I wouldn’t wish her situation on anyone though, and can only hope that what time remains for her is as comfortable as possible.
This is rather reminiscent of Paul Hunter’s untimely death from an aggressive form of cancer, though he was a thoroughly more likeable character (not that that has much to do with anything at times like these).
February 19, 2009 at 16:36 #211124Agree with pretty much all of that Equitrack.
Her children already have a better start in life compared to other children who lose their mother at such a young age.
Now Elton John has offered her his mansion to get married in as soon as her partner gets released from prison

She’s said that she will sell the wedding photos to a glossy mag to further provide for her children.
Being a parent myself I can’t blame her for putting everything else beneath their welfare and I feel desperately sorry for her, her children and her family but how many families go through worse situations without receiving the attention and financial support she is getting ?

February 19, 2009 at 17:06 #211134I have only sympathy for her…
Shes an idiot put in the public eye from day one for her mockability, shes made a fair few quid out of being a national joke, and probably made a lot more money than she ever could have on her own merits. Fair play…
Now she’s got cancer, and the gutter press will eagerly await the announcement that she is dead so they can sell a few papers to a public who half think shes got her comeuppance.
Sadly this is modern britain…
February 19, 2009 at 17:35 #211136A few weeks ago I flicked through an OK magazine at work; there was an article about Jordan; she had had yet another breast reduction or something and was talking about the problems she was having with her bowels as a result of the operation; all I could think was that she was being paid a fortune for this and people were paying to read about it, so I dread to think what people will pay to read about these days…..I suppose that none of us know how we will behave in any situation until it actually happens, so it’s difficult to judge Jade for what she’s doing; I’d like to bet that there will be photos of Shilpa sitting next to her dear friends sickbed..it all seems like some awful sort of freak show to me and I feel very uncomfortable about it…it’s as if she has to live her life in the public eye; maybe that’s it, that she only feels alive when she has media attention and she needs it to keep going? Very confusing.

Whilst I have little faith in the British general public as a whole, to suggest that anyone feels Jade Goody has ‘got her comeuppance’ in being diagnosed with terminal cancer is deplorable. Indeed, I’d be ashamed and embarassed to be associated, in any way, with someone who held that opinion. For all that she has done wrong – she almost blinded herself trying to fix a light switch with a pair of scissors – no-one deserves to be in the position she finds herself in now.
My problem is that thousands of people deal with the effects of cancer every day and are, in the main, much livelier than Goody appears in the newspaper. I have seen the effects of the disease, and how chemotherapy can seem almost destructive in itself, but those I have known who have dealt with it don’t hang their head, have three people to help them walk and depend on the use of a wheelchair for general transportation.
To be honest it disgusts me that Goody has been so brazen in her desire to bleed the media for money. Both my grandfather and godfather died of cancer, the latter after several battles over many years, and I shudder to think how they’d have viewed her actions. Neither had much money, supported as they were by their partners, but they were always doing what they could to enjoy their final months. I understand that a family needs to be cared for, but Goody has made enough money (and surely has a substantial life insurance policy) to give them a start 99% of children in this country could only dream of.
I feel for her and her family, I really do, but she’s sticking two fingers up to the public who continue to struggle in a ‘difficult’ economic climate and to all of those who have helped support other sufferers in raising money for charity. How much could Macmillan or Cancer Research UK do with the hundreds of thousands she’s likely to make in the next x months?
February 19, 2009 at 22:28 #211204Posting links isn’t my strong suit, but this piece from Rod Liddle in The Spectator (14th Feb. issue) seemed spot-on:-

February 20, 2009 at 00:23 #211226Ive never been a fan of Jade Goody from the moment she went into BB.
But it is sad to see the woman who became famous for being stupid ending up with this awful illness.
Their are positives though in that more women are now getting themselves checked out at their local doctors after seeing the way in which it has crippled her.
As for the exclusives with the likes of OK and Living TV, it just shows how much money can be made from peoples misery and how sad some people can be in wanting to watch it as time unfolds over the next few weeks.
I can gurantee that when she does depart from us then their will be TV specials,Magazine exclusives,Funeral DVD with no doubt a "Best of" showing Jade in her time at BB,Books about her and who knows maybe a Jade Goody wing at a local Cancer Hospital.
Her sons will of course suffer but they do seem to be well protected and the trust fund for them is a cracking and good thing to do knowing that your time is up and Jade is making sure that they have a much better education and life that she has.

February 20, 2009 at 23:49 #211397What is happening to Jade Goody is bloody awful and anyone without sympathy I’m afraid is a sick human being.
"A vile racist"? For calling Shilpa Shetty Shilpa Poppadum? For F**** sake crime of the century, hang the girl now!!

God bless you Jade.

I have to agree because I lost a family member through cancer and it’s the worst feeling in the world but for Jade who built a succesfull life for herself off a reality t.v programme to be told she had cancer was bad enough but to diminish all hope in being told the cancer is so far advanced she has only a certain time to live must bring you crashing down to earth with an almighty bang. Regardless of her media coverage its an awfull thing and there are a lot of sick people out there taking the piss and its not on but I don’t know if people are just being dumb or trying to say look at me im hard I can take the piss out of someone whos got few months to live im not sure. She has helped raise the awarness of the [problem if anything and she’s not the only one to be going through this we know and my heart goes out to anyone or family that is going through what she is.
February 21, 2009 at 10:02 #211455How anyone could begrudge Jade making a few quid for her young kids before her imminent death is bewildering…..
Ever since she became a celebrity (whether you like it or not) she’s lived a dream life for a girl with her background and prospects – what were the odds on Jade becoming rich working as a dental nurse?
It was from no fault of her own that Jade became famous and she duly milked the opportunity that life and the britsh public presented to her. The same people that laughed at her when she came up short in the intelligence department no doubt labelled her vile racist for her part in the Shilpa race row.
How is anyone else’s stories of cancer in the family relevent here? The circumstances are always different, and yes, she is certainly lucky to have the earning power to "brazenly"
earn money, but that’s life and it’s a bugger. I could name a few people that have and will "brazenly" earn far more for THEMSELVES doing far nastier and dishonest deeds in their living life, let alone death.Everybody’s had their pound of flesh and passed judgement on this "ghastly" young girl over the years
, and they’ll continue to do so in her final moments of a painful death. As far as doing as much for cancer charities before she goes…well, where I’m from,
charity starts at home?…..
