Thought the morning show when Fran cumani came on was pure car crash tv. The body language from Dettori and Weaver was noticeably bad… I briefly wondered if one or both of them had their hearts broken by her years ago when they used to work for Luca

To make the effect worse Jason looked marooned in the middle of the studio at that point.. at least get the seating right.
If I was one of the producers I’d employ this Maddie who has done some podcasts for the racing post… she’s young, attractive and seems to have a genuine enthusiasm for the game… might attract some younger viewers to watch
May 7, 2017 at 09:16 #1299808Whatever you think about the other presenters, I don’t think it’s fair to criticise Dettori. His job is to be a jockey, not a pundit. It’s likely that he didn’t know he’d be available for TV work until the day before.
I thought Cumani did fine, it was her first outing with the team after all.
May 7, 2017 at 11:39 #1299839To me it seemed as though Cumani was being treated as some special guest, Turner appeared to get pushed aside, whether you think that is a good or bad thing is another matter. Cumani did not add anything to the show for me.
May 7, 2017 at 12:34 #1299846To be fair, she was spot on with her comments with regards her thoughts on the horses pre race [something that Gina excelled at, though]. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I did actually miss Emma Spencer yesterday, although they obviously couldn’t have her working with Hayley Turner.

Problem is they are going to recycle Dettori over and over again. There are so few selling points. They can’t keep peddling the Frankel story every week.

I know who you mean but it looks as if she is barely out of school and they are just promoting her as an attractive face. They have employed a few women at the Post but I don’t remember too many on Podcasts. Perhaps in a few years?

Nice to see he’s done his homework.
Edit: Quite incredible that they took a commercial break and then showed a recording of the 2:35 from Hamilton instead of showing the race live, as was scheduled, before the ads.

I’ve read her blog and she writes extremely well and comes across as being highly intelligent so doubt she is just a token face.
Whereas Ms Cumani is just one of these bland sort of stepford wives type media blondes who never say anything remotely interesting.
May 7, 2017 at 15:27 #1299884Coverage of the pre guineas looks inept to say the least- they seem all over the place. Oscillating between making banal statements, showing video replays and interviews with trainers where each trainer gives very little away.
Is it too much to ask that we could actually see more shots of the runners in the paddock? Would be nice to see how Fair Eva etc have done well over the winter. Now they are saying that she is boiling over somewhat but no shots, we have to take Jason Weavers word for it.
May 7, 2017 at 16:17 #1299900<p abp=”460″>Yes, questions might be rubbish but Stoute just comes across as plain rude. Seems crazy to think that at one time he was trying to get a television job.
Looking at the downward spiral in racing prese=ntation, I can understand why he might have thought getting a job would be a doddle.

As sure, he only had a face for Radio

Pretty simple, get rid of Turner. She adds absolutely nothing . Her most used term , “chilled out”. Argh!
Never really understood the dislike towards Emma Spencer. She was good at her job

I never knew there was a dislike or whether Emma didn’t want the job. But I agree with you. Not only was she good to look at but she knew how to get the most out an interview and she never screeched like Plunkett. Talking of interviews, I think it was Gosden who showed signs of wanting to walk away, today, whilst a bookie told Chapman to look down the line for 7/4 on the O’Brien horse. Once again he was being a pest.
May 7, 2017 at 20:55 #1299946do spencer and turner have history ?
judge are you mad if ITV and channel 4 before had there way they would prefer no horses

Now it’s funny about Nezwaah. I’d backed her in doubles with Frontiersman and others. I heard her name mentioned as I was looking at the online Sporting Life. I couldn’t see her in the race and after it was over I went to the Life to check. Nothing about her being a non-runner, nor in the Post. I checked several times and have just checked again. The Post is updated but the Life still omits Nezwaah, both in the racecard and the results.
May 7, 2017 at 21:07 #1299950Bet365 seem to be quicker in their result service of when horses get withdrawn, if going by sporting life results you’d never know if a horse has been withdrawn which can lead to problems when marking up competitions on here.
