“And Suella Braverman wants to be new Prime minster”
It’s always good to start your day with a laugh.
July 7, 2022 at 07:08 #1605697Agreed, it would be funny if it wasn’t deadly serious.
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJuly 7, 2022 at 07:27 #1605698At least the war has stopped in Europe and the Saudis have stopped their war. Afghanistan has dealt with it’s earthquake and there are no refugee camps anywhere. Sri Lanka is no longer in the grip of chaos. All quiet all over Africa. People trafficking (now state controlled) is no longer news. Even Hong Kong is a mill pond.
Spoon fed news, Murdoch and all like him dreamt of days like these and have had them for a very long time, but now moreso than ever.July 7, 2022 at 09:01 #1605704Me and Boris Johnson have one thing in common – narcissism!
Mine is a more self aware, tongue-in-cheek brand, but even so nothing he is doing now surprises me.
He is convinced he has a personal 2019 mandate and tbh, whether that’s true or not, in his head he’s different to everyone else, different to other PMs even, the sort of PM who breaks the mould gets into history books and onto future exam papers.
No one had publicly executed a monarch before but that didn’t stop Cromwell doing it – and that’s the mindset.
He will last until next week, I think, and possibly even further because I think he might try to dissolve Parliament and call an Election to pre empt a vote of no confidence.
It might not work, but what has he got to lose?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 7, 2022 at 09:08 #1605705He’s gone!
Just announced
Now send him to the tower
July 7, 2022 at 09:13 #1605706Guido Fawkes blog has announced Johnson has agreed with Brady and the 1922 Committee to resign.
July 7, 2022 at 09:18 #1605707He literally couldn’t fill a Cabinet and other ministerial positions, support had drained away that fast.
Apparently back bench MPs had been turning down positions in government all night.
You can still have 1.03 at Betfair he’s gone as pm by the conference if you like – traders greening up.

July 7, 2022 at 09:24 #1605710If only we could bet the Johnson resigns/Johnson divorced double, CAS – but it’s the most obvious related contingency ever.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 7, 2022 at 09:29 #1605711He says he wants to continue until the autumn. A complete lame duck.
Is he hoping there will be some upturn in his fortunes and the party will change its mind? If so, he is deluded.
If he were to go now, his tenure as Prime Minister will have been even shorter than Teresa May spent in No 10. I believe that is why he wants to stay on as long as possible. Petty things like that matter to that crowd.
July 7, 2022 at 09:29 #1605712At last!

100% – and to him most of all, I suspect.

July 7, 2022 at 09:54 #1605715It’s not going to be straightforward as he wants to stay PM until the autumn – many saying he must go today or he will cause carnage.

That in itself is a lie.
The cabinet were not to know what Johnson would do.
Am sure Johnson has lied in the past before he got the PM job, doesn’t mean he was bound to lie after becoming PM.Starmer was prepared to serve in an extreme left wing cabinet under known neo-Communist, Putin loving Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott at its head. That was the alternative to Johnson.
Value Is EverythingJuly 7, 2022 at 10:08 #1605717It’s a very sad day indeed not only in British democracy but in Democracy in general. From country that gave to the world perhaps its greatest gift, the Magna Carta, now has shown to the same world how to successfully carry out a coup without firing a single bullet in sharp contrast to a banana republic: in this instance the coup was carried out by civil servants whereas in the latter case its carried out by the military servants, but both cases have a common goal to topple the democratically elected leader(s).
Whether you like Boris Johnson or not, he was elected by the people and only the people have a democratic right through the election process to either re-elect him or not. People maybe rejoicing at the outcome but, sadly, for the wrong reason entirely…
July 7, 2022 at 10:10 #1605718That’s still a stain on kier for me. Reeves and others refused to serve under the filth and its an issue that will be thrown at him time and again.
Also political stances (corbyn isn’t labour at all of course.. he was effectively serving the Socialist Rapist Party*) are easy to identify but behaviour is very difficult to predict
*Note.. check the SWPs record on rape issues
