A bet I have more for fun that anything else, is to "buy" the total number of corners in a game. It’s a good bet if you’re watchiing a live game but have no real interest in either game.
For those not familiar with Spread Betting, if you "buy" the number of corners, you need there to be more in the game than you buy at. In tonight’s game West Ham are away to Sunderland and the spread at (Sporting Index) is 10.75 – 11.25. It doesn’t matter if you can get a quarter of a corner or not, that is just used for settlement purposes.
I’m going to buy at 11.25 and my usual stake is £5 so my maximum liability is £56.25 i.e. if there are no corners at all. To work out the settlement, as I have bought you simply take the total number of corners in the game and then subtract the level I bought at.
For example,
if there are 10 then the settlement is 10 – 11.25 x £5 = a loss of £6.25.
if there are 14 then the settlement is 14 – 11.25 x £5 = a profit of £13.75.Why buy ?

I was a bit late getting the bet on and managed to buy at 11 instead of 11.25.

Current price 11.0 – 11.5The low number of corners by Liverpool surprises me a little, perhaps that’s because the ball ends going through the posts far more often than outside them when it crosses the goal line. I think this is going to be a right cracker jack of a game and now that West Ham are pretty much safe then they have nothing to lose and will come out all games blazing. Liverpool will also be looking to attack and keep up the pressure on Chelsea and Man City at the top of the table.
