In fairness to Germany, they played their part as well – it was a cracking match. Very refreshing to see both teams going for it in extra-time. I think it’s fair to say that over the 120 mins, Italy just about deserved to shade it.
Cannavaro for me has been the player of the tournament but I wonder if they will give it to a defender.
I agree – Germany played their part in an excellent game – although they lacked the technical skills of the Italians, they were a balanced, well-organised side who kept going – a credit to Klinsman.
I haven’t as yet heard who the Germans are blaming for their defeat, but I’m fairly sure it will be Ronaldo

Since when was football a contact sport? Outrageous that legitimate tackles and muscular challenges were left unpenalised thus contributing to a game far too fluent and honest, with far too much ball-playing quality that was left unhindered and allowed to flourish for 120…pulsating…minutes. Great climax, the Italians will be nice and "tired" (English-ism) for the final now
Normally, the very word, "clinical", suggests precisely the opposite to "imagination", yet those two goals demonstrated both sublimely. What a cutback!
