What a terrific claiming jockey, she’s Welsh Point to Point champion 35 wins round the flags and has ridden 10 winners over hurdles, still claiming the full allowance, one to watch in Hunter Chases this season I’d say judging by the ride she gave Timetoring today
January 26, 2010 at 23:10 #272281I was impressed today and as you say she is one to look out for.
I had a quick look through some of her stats and although they are fairly impressive, they are nothing too spectacular in all honesty. The win she had on the same horse at 66/1 in Nov does blow the P/L up significantly.
But again, she is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
January 27, 2010 at 12:34 #272337…and potentially only days away from reuniting with Chesnut Annie, on whom she was unbeaten in 10 Open points last term, at Black Forest Lodge this weekend. Splendid racemare and the two of them get on famously.

January 27, 2010 at 13:28 #272346Gents,
May I ask a question, please? Why is it that in yesterday’s card for the race — a Handicap Hurdle for Lady Riders — all the jocks were given the appellation "Miss" except for ………….. Isabel?
There’s probably a very obvious reason, and I am being embarrassingly naive.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
(I also think Isabel is an excellent rider, btw).
January 27, 2010 at 17:16 #272383I hope your not suggesting we need an Olympic 800 Metres style enquiry? :>)
January 27, 2010 at 19:15 #272414LOL, no, C.S. !!
I am very confident that Isabel is "all-girl" in each and every feminine aspect. It’s just that I’m intrigued as to why she isn’t shown the respect of being addressed as "Miss" in a racecard when all the other ladys are. All the riders in this particular contest had a 7-llb allowance, and Isabel by nature of her being a veterinarian surgeon is in the amateur ranks similar to the other riders in the race, no?
Just wondering, tha’s all.
January 27, 2010 at 19:18 #272419She’s always "Miss" in the Racing Post Hoofhearted – not sure why it would be any different in the racecard tbh.
January 27, 2010 at 19:38 #272425Aaaah, I see. Thanks for that, I.S.
Yes, then it must have been an oversight omission by my daily newspaper and also in the SportingLife racecard.
(Even in the results section, the SL persists in denying Isabel the "Miss" prefix.
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Full_Res … 14,00.html )January 28, 2010 at 10:01 #272505If the data is Press Association in origin, then its declension of amateur and conditional riders cannot always be held as gospel.
There are issues when they forget to knock off the "Mr / Miss" for newly-turned conditionals, giving rise to instances of some stable conditionals displaying as both amateur AND claiming 10lb – an impossibility. The same thing can often happen in reverse, with riders reverting to amateur status still being rendered as conditionals, though that is a less frequent occurrence.
Isabel’s rendering without the "Miss" is just sloppy, I think, as I can’t remember any time she actually went conditional, even briefly.

January 29, 2010 at 18:36 #272751Sweet World running at Uttoxeter tomorrow; not sure if Isabel is riding any other horses. Would love to start going to Uttoxeter again, but I find the cards these days do not warrant the entrance fee. However, would go along if I thought Sweet World and Isabel were going to win this one. Always the bridesmaid, I’m afraid, but good luck to them.
January 29, 2010 at 18:43 #272752moehat…looks like a place at best, I’m sure she’ll give it her all but I doubt if even Nina Carberry would win this on Sweet World
January 29, 2010 at 18:49 #272755She says he’s a really difficult ride and pulls very hard. Have been one of Miss Tompsett’s biggest fans ever since seeing them come second at Bangor.
January 29, 2010 at 18:57 #272758She gave Timetoring a hell of a ride, he’d no right to win, I was very impressed too
January 29, 2010 at 19:00 #272759Definitely one to watch at Newton Abbott
