More Hughesey hurtfulness, delivered with a rose bouquet full of thorns!

And manifestly untrue – for many years, if ever Chezza had cause to google his own name (and narcissists frequently have cause to do this) Chezza would see a host of links to gamble, here at TRF, referring to Chezza in absentia.

    Enthralling reads, at times, tbf.

I am amused by the fact that Paddy Power has changed its talking horses “he might be short but your odds aren’t” ad from a jockey to Matt Chapman, almost certainly because someone eventually pointed out the issues around a jockey betting on horses he was sitting around with. It wasn’t funny before but now it also makes no sense whatsoever. Almost as if the people coming up with this rubbish know nothing about racing.

The Cheltenham adverts have started to appear now.

The Sky Bet one with Jeff Stelling and Ed Chamberlin is going to become irritating.

But not as bad as the Paddy Power Ireland v England effort, featuring the likes of Peter Crouch and his wife and someone who used to be in EastEnders. What do they have to do with racing?

Jane Mangan makes an unlikely appearance in it on the Irish side. It probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

    “Ireland v England”

Most of the horses I’ve backed ante-post are trained in Ireland and, last time I checked, I’m English!

I HATE the phoney Ireland v England thing.

‘Well I’ve done my absolute conkers but Britain won the cup so I’m heading home delighted’ said nobody ever.

The Ireland/GB angle is grating; at least we don’t see tricolours being waved anymore (i think)

I don’t even regard Irish racing as “overseas” racing any more.

The form is there on the form databases, every race is televised, and the vast majority of my ante-post bets are on horses trained in Ireland.

The Mullins domination doesn’t bother me either – at least the fella runs his horses, the Irish Arkle at the DRF was one of the best races I’ve seen in ages and Mullins supplied most of the field.

That Betfair Cheltenham advert is getting very annoying now.

That betfair one drives me insane. The second I see it start I’m scurrying round the coach looking for the remote to turn it off before that god awful roar starts!

Does anyone else think the William Hill Cheltenham adverts showing the usually miserable Tony McCoy smiling are just a little bit creepy?

I was hoping the creepy smiling McCoy advert might disappear after Cheltenham but it is still with us.

Fortunately I’m like Marlingford with regard to the advertising, I just concentrate on the high quality presentation.
