Circumstances dictate that unfortunately I’m not going to make it on Gold
Cup Day this year, 1st one I’ve missed in years. I still get a high going
to it, the roar at the Supreme off has my hair standing on end. I wouldn’t
be keen to see a 5th day, there’s only so far you can dilute the standard
of racing before it loses it’s gloss. God willing, I’ll be back there next
year.March 3, 2022 at 14:57 #1585576Agree with cork. I switch off after the gold cup. Had a gutsful by then and the remaining races are boring
Never thought I’d say this but I wish it was back to three days. Wouldn’t scrap all the new races but certainly the mares
March 3, 2022 at 15:54 #1585579Should try to enjoy it though
Way things are going, it could be the last one
March 3, 2022 at 17:47 #1585589“I am so excited. It is only 2 weeks to the Ryanair Chase.”
Said No One. Ever.
March 3, 2022 at 17:51 #1585591The last one of what, Clive?
March 3, 2022 at 17:57 #1585592I think Clive reckons we will be in a nuclear holocaust by March 2023. I doubt even that would stop the Cheltenham hype train to be fair. They’d just run cockroaches. Minella Cockroach for the ’23 Gold Cup.

March 3, 2022 at 20:03 #1585610I’m just trying to give some friendly advice. Ante post betting on 2023 would be risky given that horse jockey and trainer are likely to be incinerated
Unless you can get NRNB of course
March 3, 2022 at 20:07 #1585612I think you are in cloud cuckoo land. Russia need somewhere to sell their gas.
If Putin is targetting Mares races, I’m flying a Hammer & Sickle.

March 3, 2022 at 20:20 #1585616There will be a big gas market for crematoria for bodies that are only mangled and not reduced to dust talking
March 3, 2022 at 20:25 #1585620Stick to laughing at traumatised homeless people Clive with your great mates.

March 3, 2022 at 20:29 #1585622If nuclear fallout affects Cheltenham, Nicky Henderson is certain to withdraw Shishkin claiming the horse doesn’t act on radioactive ground.
March 3, 2022 at 20:36 #1585623Don’t get me wrong, I will be interested in the Cheltenham Festival, I even plan to watch it (on mute throughout, obviously!)
Like Royal Ascot, the first day is the best.
The Flat meeting has all those Group 1s on the Tuesday, Cheltenham has the Supreme, the Arkle and the Champion Hurdle.
But I will also be looking out for any Class 4 and 5 Handicap Chases/Hurdles at 2m4f+ at the supporting meetings – that’s where I’m more likely to have a bet.

I loved that
March 3, 2022 at 21:13 #1585635The Hammer & Sickle flag of the Soviet Union was a ‘design icon’. Russia’s boring tricolour doesn’t bear comparison, as I feel sure Vlad the Immovable is aware…
Seriously folks: given Russia’s infiltration of sport and high society here does it not strike as a little strange that sundry ‘oligarchs’ haven’t laundered their roubles buying horseflesh; or have even they realised that they can’t compete with the filthy lucre emanating from the middle east
