Hi ive a question for irisgift1
Why was Tigers Lair pulled from teds race at MR?
I have it from a very good source that he would have beaten him is this true?
September 28, 2005 at 19:49 #66941Hi IG
It is really nice to see you posting on here and i send ya a warm welcome:)
Take no notice of the knockers of Ted as all it is down to is sheer bloody jealousy  ;)
You keep on defending your boy IG because i can sure as hell remember being your age and God help anyone who didn’t agree with me that Triptych wasn’t the greatest mare ever lived. Looking back with a wee bit more wisdom these days i can kinda see she possibly wasn’t. ;) Most members on here must surely have one special horse in their memories that they defended come what may and whatever anyone else ever said they still thought they were the dogs beaullocks. Ted is incredibly special to you and your family IG and i can understand your total defence of him be it he turns out to be a world beater or not he has given you and your family wonderful times and God willing they will long continue.
Jaaaaysus i’ve waffled on when all i was trying to say was folks give this lass a bit of a break yea? So what if you personally don’t think the horse is Gods gift to NH this girl is close to this horse, he’s family! So give that a bit of thought when you respond. Ta very much:) ÂÂÂ

PS and stop asking the poor lass questions that she cannot answer, be it even if she knows.
September 29, 2005 at 10:55 #66942the reason tiger’s lair didnt run is because
the ground wasn’t right and i know that because i was with jonjo when he told them they wern’t running, so they musn’t of been that good of a source
racing is full of rumours you must remember that
thanks soba at least someone understands he’s the most special thing ever to me, and it’s like when someone takes the p*** out of someone in your family you would react in the same way.
September 29, 2005 at 11:45 #66943I’m of the opinion he’ll improve and whilst maybe he won’t win the GC I think The sun alliance is well within his radar. Kicking King was well beaten by Beef or Salmon early last season and people wrote him off, now he’s the best horse around at 3m. IG has the look of a winner to me. There was an interesting thread about whether horses know, are aware of or want to win, IG is a horse that I would say wants to win and shouldn’t be dismissed so easily.. Anything that can fend off a challenge from baracouda gains my respect!
September 29, 2005 at 15:16 #66944Hi irisgift1
i have never doubted your love for the horse,he is really special to me also having access to jackdaws we visit often and he is the first horse i visit pictures of him hang on my walls and all i wish for him is a safe return every time he goes out.
So dont take it as though we are knocking him just repeating what we were told
I dont care if he would have beaten him he is still my fav as well as yours
September 29, 2005 at 15:47 #66945i have great admiration for iris’s gift and i think he’ll be a brilliant chaser on a proper galloping track and we must remember it was only his second run over fences last sat.what i would think is that maybe the gold cup could be a year too early and maybe isnt jonjos only ption for the race because keen leader proved last year he can run a decent race around cheltenham. it was a nice performance off top weight in the willian hill handicap chase.i also think kicking kings biggest danger this year could be fundamentalist if he comes back well from injury.
September 29, 2005 at 16:03 #66946jackdaws is the most amazing place ever i found that out when i went for work experience there, and if you want the best out of your horse that’s the place to send them, it’s got the most amazing facilities ever.
and if tiger’s lair would have beeten him ap would have ridden him if he had more of a chance than ted.
September 29, 2005 at 17:31 #66947A potential rival has fallen by the wayside with Paul Nicholls`s Strong Flow being retired due to a knee injury
September 29, 2005 at 17:51 #66948strong flow had no excuses in the gold cup last year i reckon his hennesy win was a bit overated saying he won off a mark of 140 i no he was up to 161 but that is still a stone behind kicking king and what high class chaser did he beat that day that finshed the race.
September 30, 2005 at 07:17 #66949IG1, lets take the positives out of this thread.
Surely the fact that this novice chaser is even considered for the Gold Cup is a compliment in itself.
I would personally prefer to see him take on fellow novices in the R&S this year, but I’m sure the connections will choose the correct route for this talented chaser.
I hope he stays injury free and has a fruitful campaign.
September 30, 2005 at 16:39 #66950at the end of the day ted has got a long way to go till then, and he’s got alot of fences to jump before then.
hopefully he will run at bangor next saturday and we take each fence as we come to them.
IG
Why Bangor?
We know Jonjo has an affinity for the course, but given the horses profile, there are surely more suitable tracks.
Is it purely educational?
October 1, 2005 at 07:54 #66952I think the owner lives near Bangor
October 1, 2005 at 08:33 #66953yes we live near bangor and he has run and won on the track before and he just needs as much experience as possible
October 1, 2005 at 08:47 #66954In defence of Bangor, it’s not at all bad as a chase course.
October 1, 2005 at 10:51 #66955bangor isn’t bad at all
October 1, 2005 at 22:38 #66956Yeah, Irisheyez. Strong Flow only won the Hennessey 14L in a hack canter as a novice, with the likes of Hedgehunter, Take Control, etc behind.
Even if Sir Rembrandt, Take The Stand and One Knight had stood up, they would have been slaughtered that day.
Strong Flow’s Gold Cup performance last season is all about him not being the same horse after injury, and nothing to do with the form of his Hennessey win being over-rated.
i like the way u said take control, hedgehunter etc u said that coz there was no more half decent chasers and TAKE CONTROL HE WAS REALLY HIGH CLASS. hedgehunter won the national yes but in my eyes he is still a plodder he wouldnt get within 30 lengths of the gold cup winner next year.i rated strong flow really highly after the hennesy but cracks started to show in the form and my mate was talkin to ruby a week after the hennesey and he reckoned nil desperandum was the better of the 2 horses remember he won the chase at fairyhouse the next day by 14 lengths
