That’s a bit harsh no?
February 13, 2006 at 14:02 #95674I’m just stating a fact.
February 13, 2006 at 16:46 #95675go back to school mate! how is that a fact its obviously an opinion.
February 13, 2006 at 16:54 #95676Possibility would be more like it because it definitely isn’t a fact and not really an opinion.
February 13, 2006 at 16:57 #95677well it is an opinion of his and yours for that matter

February 13, 2006 at 18:02 #95679Quote: from Grasshopper on 11:41 am on Feb. 13, 2006[br]After much though and consideration, I have decided to supplement my pet goldfish, Milo, for the Gold Cup after all.
It is true to say that he has never actually failed to jump round Cheltenham, and the fact that they have already started watering at the course, is obviously a real bonus.
Milo (who is not to be confused with JP’s rag of similiar name) has had his training regime stepped up in preparation for the Festival. He is looking an absolute picture at the moment, and is bound to be the pick of the haddock come race time.
There is no plaice like Cheltenham, and I full expect him to hake-up.
Brilliant!! My frog’s in with a great shout then as well, jumps well, unlikely to croak at the finish but does tend to run a bit green……
February 13, 2006 at 20:01 #95680Does anybody know where I can buy a kangaroo??
February 13, 2006 at 22:14 #95681I’ll give you 20/1 about skippy
February 13, 2006 at 22:17 #95682Regarding the Gloria Victis episode, I personally think that making all to win a Racing Post Chase in a canter by 10L giving Marlborough a stone fully justified the decision to go for the Gold Cup IMO.
That race he ran in the Gold Cup was the greatest performance in defeat I’ve seen over jumps barring Crisp considering that he must have run about half a mile further than anything else (obviously until falling) by going markedly right at each fence.
It was just a tragedy that we didn’t get to see how good he would have been as there would have been a fantastic rivalry between him and Best Mate IMO.
The same also applies with sending over BoS for the 03 Gold Cup after winning the Ericsson, Irish Gold Cup as well as one Grade 2 & one Grade 3 race.
I’m surprised that Iris’s is going for the GC on the back of a fall but like I said much earlier in the thread, IF he’s there at the end (albeit a big IF), I just can’t see him finishing well beaten.

February 13, 2006 at 23:12 #95683Half a mile is stretching it a bit but the cumulative effect of jumping right at fence after fence was there for all to see and is food for thought for backers of Racing Demon and Our Ben this time round.
February 13, 2006 at 23:18 #95684There is no comparison between Iris’s Gift and Gloria Victis. GV was one of the most exciting novice chasers that we had ever seen and had a top class field strung out behind him in the 2000 Gold Cup before his sad fall. IG is a dodgy jumper and looks a little one paced over fences, even though this years Gold Cup field is looking the weakest in terms of quality that I have seen, I can’t see him being good enough.
ÂÂÂ
This has been said before by myself and others already but would you all please just think before you post what some are IMHO insulting comments, the bloody horse’s owners come on here. Yes i know opinions are what this forum is about. But seriously peeps, after reading what some of you have put it must be frigging upsetting to them as you are to their minds publicly attacking their dad not to mention their horse.
I too have an strong opinion about the horse and his Gold Cup entry and yes i’d rather he didn’t run in it but at the end of the day it sadly doesn’t matter what we think, it is not our decision to make.
I swear i really fear what some people are going to put on this forum if he doesn’t get around :(
Please God that he does but if he is struggling then as Naps mentioned, hopefully he will be looked after by AP.
February 15, 2006 at 02:24 #95686How do we actually know that the owners come on here??? I certainly don’t believe it. And it is my opinion that IG will fall in the GC. How on earth is it insulting????

I certainly believe that the forum members irisgift1 and roblester are indeed the daughter and son respectively of Robert Lester, the registered owner if Iris’s Gift. And I reckon that 95% of the other forum members believe it too. We have no reason not to.
February 15, 2006 at 09:41 #95688teds fall at warick was a soft fall and hasnt caused any trouble and is in flying form for the gold cup.
February 15, 2006 at 10:35 #95689Hi. I have tricked you all. I am not really an 18yo horse racing fan. It is me, J P McManus. I have been studying this forum for the last 5 months to see what you all think of my horses and other horses which I may look to buy in the future.
See how easy that was to do??? If you want to believe, that’s fine.
