Also where did that guy posing as Rob Lester here before disappear to?
February 11, 2006 at 11:38 #95653IrisGift1, I’ve no problem with backing the horse If I knew it could jump the fences. How is its schooling going? Will it cope with Cheltenham’s fences?
February 11, 2006 at 16:39 #95654if you dont believe im rob lester’s daughter ask me any question and i will be able to answer it because i have known ted since he was 2, so thats quite a long time.<br>rob lester hasnt been on because he has been on holiday and came back yesterday.
stumpy and roachy have been schooling ted everyday at home and he has improved alot, he has jumped the cheltenham fences before and has had no problem getting over them apart from some dodgy jumps.

And Hitler had no problems after invading Poland, apart from the British lobbing a couple of bombs his way.
Classic.
This year’s Gold Cup might not be a vintage renewal, or anything close to that, but backing a horse who has less chance of getting round (safely) than my Grandma still doesn’t appeal. Even Darkness, who isn’t the most sure-footed of chasers, crucified Iris’s Gift at Newbury.
Some might see that as some kind of sign.

February 11, 2006 at 17:18 #95659Leave the lass alone!
GM ~ I’m rather more certain that irisgift1 and roblester are who they claim than I am about some of the so called "facts" you announce as if they’re gospel.
I’m not in favour of Iris’s Gift tilting at the Gold Cup personally and nor are many others on here, but I don’t think we should shove that down the throats of those close to the horse every time they poke their heads above the parapet.
February 11, 2006 at 17:38 #95661Well said, rory.
irisgift1, there are some of us on here who appreciate you and other members of your family coming on and "putting your heads above the parapet" as rory says.
Good luck with the horse next week and in the Gold Cup. He’ll need it. My personal view is that he’d have had a better chance in the William Hill Handicap on the first day but you’ve every right to run him in the big one if that’s what your hearts are set on. He’ll be ten next year and so there’s an argument for saying that if you’re going to go for Gold then now’s the time.
Bear in mind also that it’s less than two months since the view was expressed on here that, along with Iris’s Gift, Missed That was a horse who should "never bother jumping a fence again." Three straight wins and ninety grand in prize money later, how his connections must wish they’d taken that advice. Who’s to say that Iris’s Gift won’t prove the doomsayers wrong as well?
February 11, 2006 at 18:25 #95662I’ll second the last two postings. Leave the wee lassie alone. All this IG connections bashing is getting tedious. You are taunting a schoolgirl.
How many different ways and how many different times are you all going to keep on making the same point. It is pretty clear the polarised views on this horse, its jumping and the GC. All we can do now is wait till after the race and you can all have either a gloating "I told you so" thread or preferably a "humble pie" thread. Please please make it be the latter.
The connections have the right to run their horse whenever or wherever they want.
February 11, 2006 at 19:58 #95663yes she is my little sis. he’s may not run next week but is in great form at home, may not have a prep run but he goes well fresh and that wouldn’t bother us, i wouldn’t mind gettin on at 50’s instead of the measly 25’s on offer at the mo!!

If the cap fits……..
I found the Gloria Victus jibe particulary distasteful in view of whom it was aimed at. You are a respected contributer to this forum and as you say passing opinions on horseracing is what this forum is about. This can be done without taunting a 14 to 15 year old schoolgirl that her pet is going to die like Gloria Victus if daddy persists in running him in the GC. Scoring points over a schoolgirl is just not sport in my opinion.
I enjoy the banter we all have together. Occasionally, as in this case, clues to real identities creep in to remove some of the anonimity. When we know we are dealing with kids we should be a little more reserved in my opinion.
Maybe I am just old fashioned.
February 12, 2006 at 16:20 #95665I hate to say it, I really do, but EC’s got a point :o
February 12, 2006 at 17:58 #95666He’s always got a point. ;)

How’d that get past the censors?
February 13, 2006 at 01:09 #95668EC has enough respect from me alone for it to be ignored by forum members!!! Go EC – give as good as you get. I hadn’t actually read all the posts and just skimmed over them, but now i have read them, I haven’t got a clue what kevin is talking about. When did he incite any hurt towards a horse???
I quote from EC, ‘If he were my pet I wouldn’t run him in the GC thats for sure. We have seen this sort of thing before and it breaks my heart to see the Gloria Victus type of incident.’
And how exactly is that insulting or wishing for a horse to die??? you need to shut up and stop talking about sh!t that ain’t true, and aint even close to true. It is so easy to have debates with EC and whilst we may disagree on loads of stuff, there is still an easy atmosphere. So kevin – p!ss off.
February 13, 2006 at 04:33 #95669Easy jackane.
Did your mum put a fizzy drink in your lunchbox today or something
February 13, 2006 at 08:34 #95670If anything, EC was trying to be compassionate towards the horse, but bottom line is that owners pay the bills and they are the decision makers. I am quite sure IG’s jumping has made them do a great deal of thinking before coming up with the decision to run. I still can’t compare Gloria Victis to IG in any way though. GV had every chance of winning when tragedy struck, and was a far better animal that any good novice seen out in a long time. IG still has Unsinkable Boxer written all over him but best of luck to the Lesters. I do hope the jockey gets instructions to pull him up right away if he clobbers a few and is going nowhere.
February 13, 2006 at 12:46 #9567132 days till gold cup day!
February 13, 2006 at 13:48 #95672Grasshopper – I’ll cough up half the fee. Left handed seems to natural for Goldfish.
LGR – No fizzy drinks, just a pillock really annoying me. I didn’t actually know about Gloria Victis, but after I looked at the form last night and saw what happened, Pipe is just an absolute muppet. He was just a novice chaser, yet he stuck him in the GC.
32 days until IG falls.
I must continue with my pursuit of Monet’s Garden. Give him flowers, chocolates, sugar cubes………
