SIS from today 1st January 2017, will be publishing sectional timing for all Irish racecourses.
Anybody who compiles speed figures for Irish national hunt racecourses, will finally be able to view what the actual true race distances were, and not the fictional distances in the minds of some Irish clerks of the courses.

I suppose the only downfall to this will be, my Irish standard times will need a major revamp, I can see major changes to racecourses like Tramore, Limerick and Navan for example.
No more will you have examples like they had at Galway, when they had a company in to measure their race distances and found out that their 2m1f chase distance was in fact 2m2f.

January 2, 2017 at 06:47 #1279796Well it looks like the start of SIS Irish sectional times didn’t happen, as there is no news on the subject anywhere.
It’s a great shame as the advertised race distances at Tramore again where not linear, and I found it impossible to compile any speed figures.

January 27, 2017 at 11:16 #1283971Hi Mike,
I really enjoy looking through your speedfigure databases that you occasionally post links to on this forum. Can I take a liberty and ask if you have an updated one for the current jumps season that you would be prepared to share? Many Thanks, Malcolm

March 20, 2017 at 17:57 #1293641Just joined the forum today. Would be interested in getting access to your French speed figures. Do you update them daily and what courses do you do them for. I would be willing to contribute towards the cost as I know it is very time consuming and I do not have either the time or knowledge to do so. Regards.
