Is it possible to merge the two Irish Derby threads?
Ginger, there is only ONE Irish Derby thread!!!
June 23, 2011 at 11:17 #362164If the Irish Derby was run at a mile and 2 furlongs like the French one there would hopefully be more runners in it.

Then it wouldn’t be A Derby though?
June 23, 2011 at 13:30 #362185It was good to yielding when the Irish Derby was run the same as in the Champion Stakes where Sea The Stars won in arguably his easiest and most facile victory. The ground was an excuse, they didn’t care about the Irish Derby, they rather send their horse to win over 1m2f against the older horses which from a stallion prospect was right but from a PR point of view would have been slated in the Irish press if he came out with that. Coolmore have run their Derby winner albeit a long time ago Galileo/High Chap but at least they gave the crowd a chance to see their champions(Pour Moi does not count as he is trained in France and Fabre is the boss).
My biggest point it that Coolmore 3yr olds are useless, a terrible bunch of 3yr old middle distance horses other than Recital. They are at nothing and will not win at the Weekend. The bigger point is the complete failure of other trainers to do anything with the stable full of stock they have every year. In fairness Weld had a classic contender but was taken off him by the Arabs but what is Oxx’s excuse?. Its clear that Mick Halford can do just as good a job as John Oxx can and i hope Halford gets some proper animals as Ger Lyons. The patrons of the big irish stables are getting little return and its time to do away with the old guard and give it to the people producing results.
June 23, 2011 at 15:00 #362192If the Queen’s horse holds on to all four shoes, then he should have the necessary speed and stamina to see off the home contingent.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
June 23, 2011 at 15:03 #362193How is Carlton House not 8/11, 4/6.
This Field is not in the same league as CH

Quantity and quality are not the same thing, Ruby. You can have as many horses as you like but if there isn’t a good one what can you do? Oxx showed he’s as capable as any when he has the horse.

Would love to lay him at odds on, but around 5/4 might have to do. Most unfounded hype of any horse this season. Dylan Thomas was 9/2f here after being 3rd in his Derby…go figure

Really…….. do you now Treasure Beach beat Carlton House in the Derby?????
Also didn’t Treasure Beach have his form franked by Nathaniel? Out of all bookies I’d say Totesport has it right 6/4 CH and 9/4 TI.
Treasure Island is the most underrated horse by a country mile atm.
June 23, 2011 at 19:45 #362244The Nathaniel form is misleading. That was run on very fast ground at Chester over a shorter trip and a shocking ride lets be frank.
I have no doubt that Nathaniel will stuff TB 9 times out of 10.
Why are people not thinking he is odds on….he has to beat one horse Treasure Beach and TB was given the run of the race from the front. Moore came back from a mile back.
Re: Irish Trainers. I am sorry but they guys are giving very well bred horses. You swear they were like Richard Fahey/Kevin Ryan who buy bottom price yearling and turn them into winners. These guys get proper race-horses not horses from Kempton Breeze Ups.
June 23, 2011 at 19:59 #362246The ground was Good To Firm at Chester, proper flat racing ground, Nathaniel would probably need a bog everytime to prove that 9/10 statistic, seriously for a horse to have come 2nd and 1st this season losing a Derby by a neck.
Look at the Derby Carlton House threw everything at Treasure Beach when staying power kicked in his stamina failed him shoe or no shoe. Also how many horses like Treasure Beach kick on that far from home trying to win a Derby? Racing more handy could see Treasure Beacvh even better here.
June 23, 2011 at 20:13 #362247We would probably have the same sort of races as we had before Aidan started running benefits for his jockeys.Wonderful, supported races.Aidan and Coolmore are running a Colin Powell style operation, overwhelming force. In responce to someone the Ulster Derby is probably a better race than the Irish one!
June 23, 2011 at 20:23 #362250I can’t see Treasure Beach winning and I hope he doesnt. A Queen victory would be great from a historcial view and current policital situation.
I do not want a Coolmore Rag winner the Irish Derby, give me a proper horse and i cheer it home if its from Newmarket,Chantilly or where ever.
June 23, 2011 at 22:30 #362260You can’t see a horse who beat CH hands down at Epsom confirming the form?
Must be that Goldikova type blindness kicking in
There’s barely a few lbs between all of these and no-one knows how they’ll respond after Epsom, CH has to travel over the water too, he shouldn’t even be fav and you want him odds on????
steady fella, cos win lose or draw yer in trouble with that approach
June 23, 2011 at 23:31 #362265How can you call the form for certain.
Epsom is run on the side of a hill, Curragh is a proper fair galloping track where their will be absoutely no excuses. That is the bet of the year. Carlton House to beat Treasure Beach. I price it up around 1/2 maybe 2/5.
Treasure Beach
June 24, 2011 at 11:15 #362293Oppose all O’Briens horses, how many horses of his just run well in Epsom and do nothing after? Masterofthehorse- 4th hasnt won since, golden sword- sold,at first sight- not won since theese are just a few of obriens outsiders who have done absalutly nothing.Never back his outsiders who run well in the Derby after that.
