Judging by Willie’s comments a few days ago. I’d say Townend will be sticking with State Man.
He must be showing a lot at home with all the No1 talk.I have Lossiemouth in an acca but will surely be cashing out if Patrick is on board.
January 31, 2025 at 11:26 #1719220Interesting that Townend is now confirmed as being on State Man.
January 31, 2025 at 12:57 #1719224Thankfully, they’ve seen the light and Danny rides Lossiemouth.
I still find it strange that Townend has taken State Man. He must be flying at home as Willie was very bullish about him at the beginning of the week also.
January 31, 2025 at 13:55 #1719229Hopefully State Man bolts up
Brightdaysahead gets the go ahead for the Champion
Lossiemouth gets relegated to the mares
Lossiemouth wins the mares and I collect 🙏Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

I’m on Lossie this weekend but like you, I’ve also backed her for the Mares so would actually prefer to see her beaten this week if that resulted in her being switched.
February 1, 2025 at 14:12 #1719408Ricci just confirmed it’s the Mares for Lossiemouth if State Man wins tomorrow.
February 2, 2025 at 12:07 #1719608Why do I get the horrible feeling that State Man is winning this … let’s be honest Lossiemouth is going to the mares , chances are Mullins isn’t going to win a number of the big prizes at the festival , Champion hurdle ..no , Arkle ..no , Champion chase ..possibly , Stayers hurdle ..no so he ‘ll want a good go at the mares
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026

He might, but that last run was horrid.
February 2, 2025 at 12:35 #1719625It was but it would make running her in the mares a lot easier if State Man wins …
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 2, 2025 at 12:55 #1719629I think Willie knows nothing is beating CH in March and therefore doesn’t want to run Lossiemouth. It’s going to be harder than ever for him to be top trainer this year with the squad Hendo is bringing and he probably see’s Lossie as a guaranteed winner in the Mares if Elliot’s charge doesn’t run.
State Man’s run at Christmas was shockingly bad but barring a poor jump at the last, he had a fit Brighterdaysahead beaten in the Morgiana.
February 2, 2025 at 12:59 #1719630I reckon Elliotts horse will prob go to the mares to though
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 2, 2025 at 13:07 #1719632If she does, I’d say that’ll be 100% O’Leary’s call.
Elliot has never won the Champion Hurdle and has often said it’s been a dream of his to win it. I remember when he asked O’Leary to let him keep Samcro hurdling for a shot at it which turned out to be a huge feck up on his part.
The fact that they also pulled the mares pacemaker (King of Kingsfield) out of the race today tells me they’re possibly keeping both fresh and having a serious thought about the CH. Elliot said they’re going to leave the call to the latest possible.
I’ve backed Lossie for the Mares so I’m praying everything falls into place for my trebles lol.
I’ve got Majborough and Sir Gino paired with CH and Lossiemouth (Mares), all at big prices.
February 2, 2025 at 15:25 #1719659Lossiemouth as a pacemaker for State Man? Weird race.
February 2, 2025 at 15:26 #1719660Shame she hit the deck (she put down on him) as it was looking like it could have been a great race – must be a doubt about her making Cheltenham now off the back of that fall.
February 2, 2025 at 15:29 #1719661What an anti climax.
That’s why I’ve always said Lossiemouth should avoid the Champion Hurdle. Her jumping is just far too careless.
February 2, 2025 at 15:34 #1719662That looked awful, I hope she is 100% okay after that. Most likely she’ll bypass Cheltenham.
February 2, 2025 at 15:43 #1719664GM23, I’ve always thought that about her jumping too. Relieved to see her get up and looks ok thankfully.
