One of my favourite races of the year…Yes flat staying handicaps are my favourite!

    The shortlist is

Drop The Anchor having had real obvious pipe-opener over 7f. Never his trip in a Month of Sundays.

MC Muldoon- Had a lay-off and reappeared at Galway i think he’ll be better here + 2m will be great. 95 is fine.

The Shunter- another with a recent pipe-opener- while he’s 10 hes only had the 5 flat starts. Mark fine, and he didn’t run badly 5th to DTA in the November Handicap last year…favourably weighted with him.

Lastly, Weston- softer ground will suit. Dont think the last run was wise over a shorter trip. 7lb claimer makes him more interesting. Type of horse to pop up here for me.

Now to decide how to approach the 4 of them. Probable at the prices, i’ll just split stakes + back them all win only.

Almost certainly be adding The Shunter myself Jack. He’ll be second bet, and right now that’s in preference to Falcon Eight, but not 100% made my mind up yet. Determined not to have three in this, but I know how that’s going to go

Stratum is a regular of mine. He’s hot snd cold, but I can’t let him get away at 50’s. He’ll be added EW, once I see who’s playing max places

    The Shunter/Falcon Eight

Edit, went win only with Falcon Eight, after withdrawal of The Shunter

    Stratum 50’s EW7pls
    Falcon Eight 33’s

    Tower of London @ 8’s

I have convinced myself he is a very good horse and is well handicapped off 110. I don’t care how old he is

What a race by the way. I have to get involved for a bit of fun. Plumped for ECHOES IN RAIN 17/2 for lesser known trainer something Mullins?
Close 2nd in the race last year, ran well in a warm up listed race over 12f and will appreciate the forecast rain on top of the already soft ground.
Only doubts I have is she is much higher in the weights than she was last year and it is an open race. I really like what half the field had to offer on form. Have good fun time responsible blah.

I cannot get my head around the each way odds and the mark up of the bookies in the races this weekend. They are shooting fish in a barrel.
If I can find the winner I’ll play if not I won’t.
The over rounds would make an organised crime boss blush.
Until they go back to a quarter of the odds and price up huge fields up fairly then I will concentrate on screwing them back.
In fact I am going to BOYCOTT EACH WAY betting on all big races until they the bookmakers return to FAIR EACH WAY terms and FAIR OVER ROUNDS.
If many others do the same it could make a difference. Particularly with the ARC coming up and the winter jumps just around the corner.

    My ew selections:
HMS Seahorse 25-1 – ran on gamely on his last start at Galway finishing best of the front runners – everything else that raced prominently fell in a hole halfway up the hill so

Sionnach Eile 80-1 – also did OK at Galway considering he was caught wide most of the way. Never been this far, on this ground, but pedigree gives some cause for optimism if he settles.

It’s an Irish handicap; there’s bound to be one or two  , ‘hiding’ somewhere down the weights, but i decided to plump for one of the top few in the betting; just like yday at Ayr, in the Gold Cup.

Echoes In Rain at 9s (BOG)

Best of luck to all :good:

Yep- by Shantou out of a Bob Back mare😆
He’ll be just getting started while everything else is crying enough in the rain.

    Irish Cesarewitch

I’ve had huge success with draw data including a 28/1 winner at Wolverhampton last night.

A first opportunity to use the draw data system as it’s been flip starts for this contest until last year. I’ve left out the physics for the race by naming the selections early before the true impact of the physics can be assessed. The impact of such can be assessed after the race as always.

The draw data horse here is

    Jackfinbar

    win

drawn in last years winning stall (which is only part of the draw data methodology, but a precise assessment of that race still comes up with stall eighteen which points strongly to a good performance from that stall given that the occupant is the top weight and weighted by the handicapper to win the race)

a group three winner in France for David O’Meara.

    Tower of London

    win

strong chance if suited by the going and like significantly yesterday brings big race form from last week to the table.

    ECHOES IN RAIN

    win

highest drawn highest weighted has obvious claims and the rains have arrived for one of half a dozen Mullins runners.
Highly significant that Willie has chosen not to accommodate Frankie Dettori but has gone for Colin Keane to try and see out this stayer’s race. Despite the rise in weights,Echoes in Rain has been aimed specifically at this race judging by the preparation. It is a wide open contest and great to see so many in contention.

I’m not missing the each way terms and if one of these comes in I’ll be much the better for not betting each way.

Not a fan of these distance races but this looks a cracking race. I would chance the Fanshawe raider Novel Legend.

    My plays against the field

    Jackfinbar 170.0
    Mc muldoon 55.0
    Lot of joy 42.0
    Hms seahorse 40.0
    The very man 36.0

No point in having a big bet on a race like this, few fun bets on some outsiders

Form of Novel Legend’s last race boosted yesterday by the winner of the Newmarket Cesarewitch trial, Grand Providence. Had me really interested as he will play on soft. James Fanshawe was 0-19 when I was looking at the race and that put me off buuuuuuttt he had a winner last night at Wolverhampton so form form form hes back in form I’ll have a piece of NOVEL LEGEND as well at 14/1.
