The main Hopes in this race are:
Again
Cuis Ghaire
Heart Shaped
Oh Goodness me
Super Sleuth
Luminous EyesVery poor renewal i must admit other than Cuis Ghaire….the Irish Fillies are just not very good this year…Nevermind we battle on and try to find the winner
Super Sleuth has been supplemented today so Brian Meehan thinks she should go well but i think Cuis Ghaire has her held on form….Heart Shaped just doesnt look a Group 1 horse despite her great run on Lasix in the breeders Cup…..
Again would come into this but Shimah disaster run in the 1000 Guineas has not the stuffing out of me in that form…maybe she could run well but i always thought of her as a Oaks Filly….be intresting if Johnny Boi picks her out of the Coolmore Duo however.
Oh Goodness me wasnt seen in the French 1000 and cleary is 2nd sting for the Coolcullen mastro…..Finally last but not least do we luck at Luminous Eyes for canny Dermot Weld???
…..ran a nice race to finish 4th in the Goffs Million, she could run Cuis Ghaire close for me if but Dermot Curragh Record is just geting worse every year……what he wouldnt do for a few classics to be switched to Leapardstown.Cuis Ghaire for moi
Thoughts Lads and Ladies
May 19, 2009 at 18:04 #228708Its got to be between
Again
and
Cuis ghaire
, just depends on the ground with these two! Big fan of both! took the 5.5 Cuis, could be wrong though! I prefer Agains Oaks chances!
May 19, 2009 at 18:14 #228712Rather like the 2000 Guineas its looks primed for an upset (whatever that will be in this contest). Looks a very poor renewal. The likes of Again and Cuis Ghaire are hardly outstanding fillies. Wouldn’t be surprised whatever wins.
May 19, 2009 at 23:13 #228785I like Cuis Ghaire a lot… but not on heavy ground. It’s interesting that her only poor run so far was in desperate conditions. Obviously I’m aware she was diagnosed as being ‘clinically abnormal’ after that run but Bolger thought the going was against her.
May 20, 2009 at 02:50 #228872Luminous Eyes at 16’s looks value.
It was a shame her last run but on soft she trounced Drumbeat by almost 6l.
May 20, 2009 at 03:59 #228882Cuis Ghaire for me.
Jim Bolger has come out and said in the last 24 hours that Cuis Ghaire will run no matter what the ground comes up like. Thats a sign of confidence from the master trainer who had recently been reluctant to run her on all manner of soft ground.
Is she really 5.5, TAPK? Thats tempting.
Again will relish softer conditions. Lets not forget his only real blemish on his record was when coming from an impossible draw position at Longchamp LTO.
I dont think we’ll be seeing Again at Epsom in a few weeks time. I’d expect winning here will see her progress to something like the Ribblesdale at Ascot where she would possibly have a fantastic chance to win some more Group cash in a weakish field.
At the moment it’s Cuis Ghaire for me
May 20, 2009 at 23:05 #229074Johnnny Murtagh opts for Again over Heart Shaped.
May 20, 2009 at 23:10 #229077McDonagh on Lahaleeb.
Moore riding at Newmarket now
May 21, 2009 at 14:04 #229188I quite like the look of Love bird at 16s. She won well in a fairly moderate maiden lto, but ran on well in testing conditions. It’s difficult to gauge just how heavy the ground was in that race, but she should get the trip if it’s a slog, and has room for improvement. Could run onto a place if it’s heavy.

Why not, the testting ground is surely to bring some value.
May 21, 2009 at 14:43 #229190The kind of race where a fairly unknown Coolmore/Oxx filly could appear out of the woodwork and towel these.
May 21, 2009 at 18:57 #229224As some of us have said on another thread, Lahaleeb offers excellent value at 10-1. She’s one of the few who will love the testing ground (it’s still pelting it down today here) and her 2yo form with ease matches the best of these. Declan McDonagh in for Ryan Moore is a plus if anything.

Chintz – Wayne Lordan
Love Bird – Seámus Heffernan
Totally Devoted – Colm O’DonoghueMay 22, 2009 at 18:55 #229462I’m going to take a chance with Oh Goodness Me (20/1 with Boylesports paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3) who has some decent form on Sft & Sft/Hvy ground, incl winning a Gr3 over CD earlier this month on Sft ground. I haven’t looked at any pace angles yet admittedly but the field is big enough that there should be an end-to-end gallop and she will be staying on at the end. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cuis Ghaire pulled out and Kevin Manning switching to this filly on the day.

May 22, 2009 at 23:38 #229513It really looks a poor renewal of this race. I don’t think it will take much winning. I’d give Lahaleeb a tentative vote.
I’d say the crowd on Sunday could be fairly sparse given the disappointing decs for both Group 1s and the Kildare Offaly match down in Portlaoise.
