“And the fact remains they will still run their horses on good ground at the Cheltenham festival.”
They’d run them on tarmac if it was the festival. Got all summer to stick their legs back on innit.
“Is this same Nicky whose licence was suspended for administrating illegal drugs to a horse”
Yes it’s the same Nicky who claimed the illegal drugs were for the good of the horse. Deserved a much longer ban for that incident IMO.November 22, 2022 at 06:02 #1624143I’ve always thought that Henderson would make an ideal Tory MP, he has all the “qualities” needed.
November 22, 2022 at 13:59 #1624166November 22, 2022 at 15:46 #1624174Lydia Hislop is generally just about the best broadcaster/journalist racing has, but she’s actually part of the problem.
What does she think her never-ending “Road To Cheltenham” does other than further fan the already obsessive flames about four days in March being the entire season?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 22, 2022 at 16:19 #1624176Absolutely correct, Chezza.
Racing TV, Sky Sports Racing, Racing Post… all of them, and many others, have series from November onwards focusing on the Festival. It’s bonkers.

She writes too many words to make her point. I don’t want to read a novel ;o)
November 22, 2022 at 17:53 #1624182Haha, maybe stick to Twitter Mike! Hislop’s two-sentence tweet on this subject (CAS quoted it earlier on this thread) gets right to the point and is very well put.

She always maintains the “Road To” bit is just as important as “Cheltenham”.
But I agree the title is a problem. I suspect it was imposed by RTV. If you watch the programme, it is mainly a review of the previous week’s action rather than going on about Cheltenham all the time.
Didn’t Lydia Hislop used to contribute here once upon a time?

She kinda made the same point to me an hour or two ago on Twitter – while, incidentally, saying my above observation suggested I’ve never watched the Show or read the column.
She’s not entirely correct – I have, on at least one occasion, TRIED to do both, but either I have the attention span of a special needs gerbil or it’s just that bit too verbose and pleased with itself that I didn’t quite make it through an entire edition of either.
But that’s hardly a problem I have that’s confined to her – I find virtually all racing journalism unreadable and virtually all racing broadcasting unlistenable to.

Not accusations that could EVER be levelled at anyone on this forum.

You’re missing out. The latest edition, with Davy Russell and Ruby Walsh doing race analysis, was excellent. It was long- I got a week’s worth of ironing done and the kids’ bedroom and most of the kitchen cleaned and tidied listening to it- but if you zone out a bit in the fluffy bits and then have to rewind when you realised you’ve missed half a good bit by the time you zone back in, it’s no big deal.

Touché! In fact, I’m no doubt FAR worse, but no one has to pay to read/listen to my free-to-(hot)air nonsense and I’m easily ignored.
“You’re missing out.”
Being the proud owner of a functioning pair of eyes, I can do my own race analysis, so I seriously think not, tbh, but each to their own.
