Many were unhappy that Horsted Keynes was withdrawn this week but not I, I think he will win this race and win it well. I’ve taken some 12s and will top up nearer the time once confirmed
July 14, 2014 at 20:59 #485571HK was one of my fancies for Saturday but I had already decided not to back him by the time he was withdrawn due to earlier comments by the trainer that he needs fast ground.
There has to be a better than fair chance he will get his ground at Ascot (given how fast it is riding these days unless there’s a lot of rain about).
However, he might get his ground and not get the draw.
With all that in mind, I wouldn’t want to be getting involved before we have a clearer picture regarding those two important factors.
And what if Spencer ends up on him again?
July 21, 2014 at 22:00 #486117No concerns over Frank riding, the one place he does OK is Ascot – the draw is always a lottery but he is a Group winner waiting to happen and trained by a genius in the making
July 22, 2014 at 18:18 #486164Jim Crowley is declared as the jockey for Horsted Keynes, as he was last time before the ground turned against the horse and he was pulled out.
I have decided to back Horsted Keynes now at 10/1, because it probably won’t be worth it to wait for the draw. Ladbrokes only go 6/1. A decent draw will surely see more money come for him and he could be seriously short by race time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 23, 2014 at 21:39 #486243I am really keen on Redvers granted a decent draw will run a huge race.

July 24, 2014 at 15:08 #486289I like Heavy Metal at a price, back to form this season after being gelded, with plenty of firms paying five places he could be worth a poke at 33s.
July 24, 2014 at 16:53 #486295Horsted Keynes is drawn 25. Last year’s winner was drawn 29 but the draw seemed inconclusive as the first six home were drawn,
29, 10, 5, 24, 2, 17The leading seven horses in the betting this year are drawn
25, 29, 7, 28, 24, 8 and 19, so it could be there are more fancied ones drawn high than low.
Paddy Power are the only one of the bigger bookies going 8/1 now and he’s generally 7/1.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 24, 2014 at 19:39 #486302Steve: very happy with draw, happy with going, very happy with jockey and trainer form and got the price! Jim needs luck in running and the final furlong charge is guaranteed
July 25, 2014 at 18:34 #486370Oh Dear, the rain is falling and it looks like I might get shunted again with Horsted Keynes. Sometimes this game likes kicking you in the goolies!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Went for £30 e/w on Don’t Call Me at 33/1 a few days ago, been slashed this morning due to pricewise putting him up.

Inspired pick there!! Well done. I did notice the stable landed the race at the same odds last year. His form got a nice boost when third home behind him last time Alejandro, won earlier today.
Roger Varian said they were giving Horsted Keynes a run but that the rain had been unwelcome, as the horse loves fast ground. He never really travelled today and was held from a good way out. Perhaps he needs to hear his hooves rattle but he disappointed me today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
