For Good Measure would be in my top three however I have gone for a small stakes EW on Spice Fair. A useful mid 80’s handicapper on the flat and now getting the hang of hurdling. He stays 2m4f so a strongly run race on soft ground over 2m could bring his stamina in to play and he might sneak a place at 33/1. The rank outsider Sea Wall will also carry minimal stakes as he can travel very well at times so I will probably do just a place only on BF.
Good luck all
Can see Spice Fair travelling well and then finding nowt, as he did at Newbury the other day. Might be a back to lay horse Aaron. Sea Wall has a shot of a place, suspect others have scope to improve past him for the win; so not a bad shout for a place only bet.

Good luck all.

March 12, 2016 at 15:45 #1237104Well done to NTD, he’s on fire at the moment. A good run from Solstice Star
Joe, but the winner looked the winner from a good way out. Well done with your
e/w on Spice Fair Aaron. What is going on with AFFAIRE D’HONNEUR ???. Does Gavin Sheehan think he is
on bleeding Pegasus. Happy to not lay blame at his feet for the poor start last
time, but what on earth was he playing at this time. If the horse had finished
where he ran most of the race I would have thought that there was something amiss
with him, but as he came through from another county back to finish 4th I can’t
put it down to that.It will be interesting to hear in the post-mortem tomorrow what the the trainer
and jockey say. I’m bewildered

They seemed to go a very fast pace, TOO fast. Where as at Newbury it was evident from an early stage they weren’t going that fast and it paid to be fairly prominent in the Betfair.
Usually when they go as fast as today the place to be is at the back, so I don’t blame any jockey being there. Spice Fair was alongside the fav early and also came through late. All those racing up with the pace throughout finished out the back (bar Solstice Star). Given time to recover (had a hard race) think Solstice Star is the one to take out of the race for future engagements – possibly upped in trip – imo did even better than placing suggests. Although both Clayton and Allee Bleue – who both travelled well for a long way – will be interesting around a less testing 2 miles on a sounder surface, may be Aintree (or if Clayton doesn’t get in there) is there a 2 mile race at the Sandown finale meeting?
Affaire D’Honneur now looks a little suspect in temperament and/or also needs a step up to 2 1/2 milesValue Is EverythingMarch 12, 2016 at 17:14 #1237115Well done to NTD, he’s on fire at the moment. A good run from Solstice Star

Affaire D’Honneur now looks a little suspect in temperament or also needs a step up to 2 1/2 milesI get that Ginger, the pace was too fast, but previous comments from Whittington suggested
he would like him ridden nearer the pace than he was in his last race, plumb last wasn’t
really the plan. You’re right that Spice Fair was out the back with him at the start, but by about three out he
had moved through to be in the pack that was vying for third, AD was still out the back.I still think he is a good horse, hopefully time will prove that to be the case. He’s only had 3
runs since coming over from France, and at 5 he was running against much more experienced horses
in both the Betfair Hurdle and the Imperial Cup. I hope this hasn’t left a mark on him.March 13, 2016 at 00:32 #1237174I get that Ginger, the pace was too fast, but previous comments from Whittington suggested

Jockeys need to have a plan B, C, D and E; they need to react to what’s happening. Suspect either Sheehan did that… Or just as likely – the horse did not allow the jockey to race/make a move nearer the front until it was too late.
