To date in 2025, Hollie Doyle has ridden 6 winners for Imad Alsagar out of 28 rides, a strike rate of 21 4%. Ousin Murphy has ridden 1 winner from 5 rides, a strike rate of 20% Now I think we would all agree that with Ryan Moore being injured Oisin Murphy is the best jockey currently racing. Yet he has a lower strike rate than Hollie Doyle. This seems to reveal the Imad Alsagar’s perceived lack of success is down to his horses, not his jockeys.

You can’t judge a jockey from as little as 5 rides, V31… And also without taking into account expectation – not all horses have the same chance of winning.

No reason to believe Murphy’s riding for Alsagar will be any worse (or better) than his riding for any other owner. So his stats riding for other owners are just as worthy to compare with Doyle’s.

Yes, the most important thing is how good the horse is… But how good the jockey is… Or more significantly, how consistent the jockey is in valuable races – is also important.

Holly Doyle is not in the same class as Oisin… And although she’s a “good jockey”, tbh she’s no better than a lot of others. ie When Murphy is not available then Alsagar will be able to get a jockey at least as good as Holly, anyway. Therefore no point in keeping her as a retained rider.

Good luck to Hollie when she goes to ride in Hong Kong, she deserves more praise than she gets, she is equally as good as any of the other jocks but has been put up on masses of 25/1 shots this year whereas Murphy has not. It`s the horse that wins the race and poor Hollie has ridden so many out siders this year, when she gets a good horse she is as good as any of them. She just has not had many good horses to ride this year Good luck to her in Hong Kong she deserves it

She will be riding a fair few rank outsiders in HK. The two new UK recruits have not had many rides and zero wins between them. It tough to get to good horses to ride if the jockey is on a short contract, the owners want continuity or Zak.
But wheres Tom going Japan? I suppose its only 3 hours away.

Another one bites the dust! Latest one, backed down from 9/2 to 11/4 and ridden by the best jockey available is beaten out of sight. When will Imad Alsagar and his advisors realise that their jockey was not the problem? When will it dawn on them that their current batch of horses are simoly not good enough?

Another one bites the dust! Backed from 9/2 to 11/4 today (23 September) and ridden by our top jockey the Imad Alsagar’s horse was well beaten. When will he and his advisors realise their horses this season are simply not good enough?

Another runner (September 23) ridden by our top jockey for Imad Alsagar and another well beaten horse. When will IA and his team of advisers realise that their current crop of horses are simply not good enough?

Agree that Alsagar’s current crop are not particularly good v31. However Hollie is hardly showing him what he is missing , as I think that she has ridden 1 winner from her last 40 rides. It is the owners prerogative to choose his jockey , and not all choose wisely , all the time – even Piggott and Eddery got jocked off in the past (not meaning to compare Hollie to those two greats).

She’s not even matching Mulrennan’s numbers this season. Riding well below expectations and that’s not only because of the horses. They can’t all be that bad…..

Hollie Doyle must be laughing her socks off. Sacked for being an alleged inadequate jockey she is replaced by the best – Oisin Murphy. Does it make a difference? Don’t you believe it! Oisin has ridden only one winner for Imad Alsagar in eight runs. This one winner raced today at Epsom’s last meeting; went off at four to one ON and was beaten out of sight.

Message to Imad Alsagar and your advisers. Yes you need a new strategy – you need new horses, not a new jockey.

Gamrai was 15/8 favourite at Nottingham today, ridden by Oisin Murphy. The racecourse commentator said it ‘looked head and shoulders above the competition.’ Beaten at 1/4 at Epsom last time, it was again beaten out of sight. That is 1 winner out of 7 for Oisin Murphy riding Imad Alsagar’s horses, well below the win percentage achieved by Hollie Doyle.

He and his team should be ashamed of themselves for the ruthless way they sacked Hollie Doyle. They should publicy apologise to her.

Did Daniel Wildenstein issue a public apology to Peter Walwyn for removing his horses from the yard in 1980?

Owners pay the bills; no matter how misguided their decisions may be, they don’t need to apologise at all, let alone in public.

I agree that owners pay the bills. Agree also that they don’t have to apologise for any of their actions, no matter how much hurt they cause. I would just like the representatives of Imad Alsagar to be interviewed by a strong commentator and asked what the ‘change of strategy ‘ was.

“A strong commentator” in the UK?

    Good luck with that.

Doesn’t matter how great a jockey you are if you are riding donkeys.

The owner hasn’t had a horse anywhere near good enough to be at the top table since Nashwa was winning G1s and this season he has had 6 winners from 33 runners which is 18% which is not bad but nothing is either very high profile or highly rated.

If I was Hollie I would view it as an opportunity to move on as its not as if she is missing out on much now she isn’t being retained but she took good advantage of it when he had a class horse.

It is well known that Hollie Doyle rides for Archie Watson. Yet today, Hit Squad, trained by him was ridden by Oisin Murphy. Now it is highly unlikely that Archie would have jocked-off Hollie, so it has to be assumed that the owner, Qatar Racing, took this decision.

As usual, putting the best jockey on did not do the trick – the horse was soundly beaten.
When will Imad Alsagar and his mates get the message that Hollie was never the problem.
