Hi Scottish Jamie,
I’m glad to report that I’m not, so am sorry cannot shed any light on how Gazza is either

KT – excellent job on the footy, rather you than me though in that heat. I haven’t seen football played in heat like that since my days on Channel 4 when …. D’OH!!

Oh goodness it was warm and the Club’s chief head honcho said afterwards ‘you look a bit red’
He’s lucky I didn’t keel over and need the crash team!

Pre match team talk – spot the import

August 8, 2007 at 04:36 #110834Asking what I’m doing in Chicago in August is like asking me what I’m doing propping up the bar in the Pan Pacific in May!
I’m writing a piece for Corm’s new section tomorrow after PPD so hopefully I’ll be able to tip a few winners.
Chris McGrath just jetted in, Zorro has crashed and burned after his exhausting trip and Liz Price comes over tomorrow.
There was the Chicago equivalent of your footie match at Arlington yesterday but it was baseball instead (you know the sport – girls play it in England only it’s called softball!) The only up side was beers were 2 dollars and hot dogs were a buck each.
Probably going to watch the Sox play tomorrow – hopefully more exciting than watching that excruitiatingly boring obsession called basketball.
August 8, 2007 at 05:29 #110835Sorry
it was a bit early and am still recovering from heat exhaustion!!
I’ll know where and why everyone from Europe is and why they are there when I return in 179 days time
(well they’ll be no excuses then anyway
)
It’s rather strange having someone awake on here at the same time as me

I used to play basketball, back then I was the shortest player in the national league in England – I probably still would be
August 8, 2007 at 08:41 #110842Welcome to the forum, James. Have to admit that I too was worried that you were a certain bald, whiny-voiced ex-pat off the telly!

Is that a strip belonging to the Mighty Heart of Midlothian? In which case I would make reference to what you said earlier:
I scored our teams only goals!!
And urge you to phone Mr Romanov asking for a contract!
August 8, 2007 at 08:50 #110845YES! Hearts is my team, has been for ages n ages
You’re the second person today Friggo that has mentioned a contract and Romanov in the same sentence
……….. why has everything fallen in a heap up there?
They lose to Hibs last night and it’s ‘no disgrace’ what sort of attitude is that?
Heavens!.

Heavens!
.Time for a yellow card, corm. Isn’t there a rule specifically excluding Jambo’s from the site??? You can ping Friggo n’all, while yer at it.
August 8, 2007 at 11:35 #110861
But, but, but, what’s wrong with them?
.
August 8, 2007 at 11:50 #110863They’re tinkers…………from Tynecastle……….or Magdalene (in Friggo’s case)………………….or Lithuania (in the case of all their players)…………..surely that’s reason enough to hate them??
August 8, 2007 at 11:55 #110865Good grief I’ve always been a bit of a gypsy – maybe that’s why we get along so well
August 8, 2007 at 16:37 #110887Welcome to the forum James and how I envy you living near to the best national hunt racecourse. I have one tip for you……………ignore all of mine
Do you support your local soccer team? I thought they were going to do a lot better last season.August 8, 2007 at 18:56 #110891Kingston – I never realised you were one of THEM!! On the basis that you need at least a small amount of joy in your life I won’t, as suggested by Grasshopper, ban you. I will be keeping a close eye out for Lithuanian-type tendencies though – any of those and you’re on dodgy ground!!
August 8, 2007 at 19:05 #110894Hey SwallowCottage thanks for the welcome

Yes I am lucky to live where I do… and NO, I won’t be leaning your way for any tips then LOL

I don’t support the Robins, however I have played at Whaddon Road a few times in cup finals and the like, cracking pitch, shame about the stadium!
I actually support… and I know this is gonna cause a stir now that will probably take the heat off KingstonTown and the Jambos, but I support the mighty Spurs

Let battle commence

Phew – thanks JR

August 8, 2007 at 20:15 #110904James – You support Spurs
……..well, that’s ok then as they are the team that I support in the Premiership. My first and main love ( in soccer that is ) are the greens of Plymouth Argyle but Spurs are the team I cheer on in the top league and I’ve bet on them each way at odds of 12/1 to win the Premiership without the big two. I think Jol has done a great job and has a good squad now – I really like the way he has got some top strikers who will all fighting for their place in the first team.
I have also placed a fiver on them to win the Premiership outright…….just in case

And I was just starting to like you GH, what with your fervent National Hunt bias and all. Then you go and spoil it by coming out of the closet as one of them!
