Big gamble landed in the last at Hexham today.

Horse in question was called Corkage, available at 12’s and 10’s early doors. ATR flagged it up mid afternoon and Boycie said it was still available at around 9/2.

Gordon Brown was telling every man and his dog about the gamble, saying he had been told by the three owners that they are all on.

The horse is a flat bred, and making his debut for Pam Sly, who was having her first ever bumper runner at Hexham. Pam Sly had travelled to Hexham in person despite saying it’s a long way to go. She also said that the horse had been going well at home and she had told some people and the word had got around.

She also mentioned the horse that Corkage had been working with at home.

The horse opened up just 3/1 and was backed again into 9/4 clear favourite. The horse ran very green during the race but ended up winning with it’s head in it’s chest, fully justifying the stable confidence.

Oh, and the horse that Pam Sly said Corkage had been working with – it was only her 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa. Except, she only told us this after the race.

So there you have it, stable full of confidence about a horse that has been working with Speciosa, running in a Bumper at Hexham. Gamble well and truly landed and well done to all.

If only I knew before hand lol.

Nothing wrong with this whatsover, nice to see the bookies get a little thumping.

Anyone who bets in Bumper races takes the big chance that there will be a real live one who only needs to turn up to win against usually modest opposition or horses who are just out for the experience and little else.
