If Brittany Spears lived in Britian, the kids Father would struggle to get to see them never mind about getting custody.
Ok, she’s a bit of a drunken nudist by all accounts, but at least she’s got a job.
I think the laws they have in the US about custody and all that are pretty good. But it makes you think, what constitutes a bad parent? Is being a good/bad parent a universal concept?
October 2, 2007 at 11:18 #117546I’ve wondered over the past year or so how much time Kate Moss spends with her daughter – was she just a designer baby when it was fashionable? Whenever I read about these ‘celebrities’ and their exploits I want to query why they’re not at home looking after the kids.
October 2, 2007 at 12:08 #117567Poor old Britney. I think she’s probably a bit of an idiot, but she’s clearly very unstable and has no one to look after her and make her soup and count her pills out.
So what if she keeps dropping her children on the floor, it could happen to anyone!

I really hope she gets sorted out a bit soon poor lass.
October 2, 2007 at 12:12 #117571My sister used to be a family law solicitor and she won so many cases of custody for the father she was called ‘the rottweiler’ in court – she’s such a sweet, quiet, gentle person but in court she was like a Jack Russell on a rat.

She went into taxation law after 12 years because family law was so depressing for her. She said the law in the UK was geared to the mothers on such a biased level the fathers rarely got a fair deal.
October 2, 2007 at 19:11 #117659I don’t know what makes a bad/good parent .. I suppose those that care about their kids do their best and those that don’t just don’t bother.
I think Britney like many other normal people is so far up her own jacksie she doesn’t even know what day it is .. I know a few folk who behave like she does and have nothing, there’s no talk of anyone taking their kids off them.
October 2, 2007 at 20:12 #117668Call me cynical – and I have no idea as to the personna of ‘K-Fed’ but as the young, free going person that he is, does anybody really believe he would have fought the custody case so verhmently were it not for the alimony due from one of the worlds richest, troubled, youngsters ?
My opinion is that in this case, and as a seperated father I would be more inclined to lean the other way, the law has made a bad decision.
Yes she seems to be currently unstable but previous history seems to indicate a stable background whereas him – I have no idea.

You’re right DJ there are plenty like BS and worse but her antics are front page news (no matter what the antics) and perhaps the authorities feel they have to be seen to be doing something. There are far worse parents out there but sadly for the children involved no one really knows what is going on in their homes and these poor kids have no hope.
October 3, 2007 at 19:22 #117825Britney is the latest in a long line of child stars (Mickey Mouse Club from an early age before she became a pop singer,) who have ended up fit only for the nut-hatch. Her parents should be done for child abuse. Supposedly she’s got a little sister who her parents are trying to put through the same mill. Nice.
October 3, 2007 at 19:41 #117827She is an irresponsible parent who’s father will do a better job til she gets sorted. End of..Period..as the Americans themselves would say
