Hi gang
This concerns the weight for age scale, I think.
Please view the following race.<!– m –>http://www.racingpost.co.uk/horses/card … hoice=card<!– m –>
1. Down The Brick is running of a BHB of 57, am I right in thinking that this doesn’t include the 6lb extra. So how would his weight of 9-3 be calculated within context of this race?
2. The same horse recorded his best Topspeed fiqure of 69 last time out.
However this doesn’t seem to have been adjusted to 10 stone on the card. Why?3. Will Richard Hills ever be champion jockey?

I will let the experts answer the first 2 questions, but thanks for the laugh regarding question 3

The answer by the way is NO.

August 7, 2007 at 11:00 #11077057 doesn’t include the 6lb penalty – he effectively runs off 63 in the race. 3 year olds get a 9lb wfa allowance at this trip at this time, so that is how he ends up with this weight relative to his elders – (1lb less than Summer Bounty who is rated 53)
August 7, 2007 at 11:01 #110771Richard Hills won’t ever be champion jockey as he doesn’t ride enough horses…
August 7, 2007 at 11:01 #110772In response to your first question: you are correct in assuming that the official rating does not include the penalty. Down The Brick is currently rated 57, so without any allowances/penalties etc. he would initially have been allocated a weight of 9-8 in this race. 3yos receive an 11lb WFA allowance over this trip at the moment which takes his weight down to 8-11. The 6lb penalty for his win eight days ago then takes his weight up to 9-3.
Given that after today his rating is due to go up to 63 then he is theoretically racing off the correct mark this afternoon.
Can’t help with part two I’m afraid.
August 7, 2007 at 11:10 #110773HJ is correct – it is 11lb – I can’t do basic arithmetic
August 7, 2007 at 11:11 #110774Carlisle, if you look at the race in RI and select sort by BHB you will see the value for today is 63 as per the other replies.
August 8, 2007 at 10:35 #110857Hi there
thanks for your helpful replies. It all seems clear to me now.
The Topspeed rating must also take the 11 lb WFA into account.
cheers from
