A superb performance at Leopardstown yesterday but there were comments about him being agitated in the parade ring. Does anybobdy know if this is a trait that he’s displayed before?

He is by Montjeu, and this is a trait shown by a fair few of montjeu’s better horses, although usually it doesnt impair their performance by much.

Papal Bull went a bit beserk in the parade ring at epsom before running a decent 4th and was goign a bit loopy in the KG&QE before almost winning it. Motivator had a full scale operation to get him to the start in good temper at espom when he won, and Walkinthepark, who had got pretty worked up trial, was white with sweat at the off at epsom before running a decent second to motivator. Think I remember someone saying Montmartre had got worked up prior to one of his bigger races too, but can’t remember if it was the GPDP. All those horses were by montjeu, and so it isnt completely unheard of for a montjeyu to appear not to handle preliminaries and follow up with a good performance IMO.

I wouldnt mark it down as a negative about the horse, usually with the right ground underfoot they are pretty consistent on the track, and I’d make Hurricane Fly a very worthy favorite, over every other Supreme Novice contender Ive seen this year, including CousinVinny.

Some problem for willie keeping all these good novices apart! If it weren’t for Cousin Vinny you’d say the Supreme was the race for HF.

I think it’s more a case of Cousin Vinny worrying about Hurricane Fly, than the other way around, Carv.

Hurricane Fly has some serious speed about him, and being by montjeu should have a decent cruising to go with it. I’m pondering the 7-1 about him as I think he’s going to be very hard to beat come march, hard to see him being out of the top three if beaten at all, unless he fails to run to form, which is the risk you take with any horse, so am starting to think 7-1 may be a decent enough price.

I think the fact that Mullins has sent cousin Vinny for a 2m2f contest could be a statement in itself though abou where he may go, and at the minute HF looks the ebst candidate for the SN in the mullins yard, ireland, or even the uk and ireland IMO.

"That was certainly a very impressive performance. We knew he had come on a bit since Fairyhouse and he had been working very well. He’s a horse who has everything, speed and stamina which he showed over two and a half miles in France. I just hope this won’t be the top as far he’s concerned and that he will keep improving. Most of my horses are about one month ahead of themselves this season. We’ll consider it but running a novice in the Champion Hurdle is not my style and I’d imagine he will go for one ofthe novice races. He got quite worked up in the parade ring today but once Paul got on his back he was fine. You would worry a bit about how Cheltenham and the huge crowds might get to him." – Willie Mullins, trainer

Must admit he was very very impressive and wherever he goes at Chelteham he will be a warm fav to take the prize back to Ireland.

My money would be on him running in the Supreme Novices despite what the betting may indicate. It looks nothinng nearas good as last years race at this stage.

Mikael Dhaguenet may be left to the task of taking on Mad Max and Diamond Harry which looks a very hot race in comparison to the Supreme. Will be interetsing to see how Diamond Harry copes today.

As far as Cousing Vinny is concerned I doubt if he will be a factor at Cheltenham and regard him as a false favourite for the Supreme.

That was a very poor maiden he ran in and he wasn’t overly keen on the run to the line. While he picked up ok a couple of times he lifted his old head and looked as if he we was ready to say stuff this. I just don’t like the horse at all.

I certainaly wouldn’t be rushing to the front of the que to back him next time he runs. If he meets something decent I honestly think he’ll get stuffed

In comparison Hurricane Fly looked as if he was loving every minute of it. When the race started to hot up I was wondering if his jockey was ever going to move but when he did it was electryfying and against some half decent animals at that.

Wish I knew for sure if he was going for the Supreme………I’ve taken the risk and backed him for it on the basis I don’t think CV will make the grade but nothng like I would have on if I knew for sure…….looks a helluva horse.
