Hunter Chases on Tuesday…

A couple of interesting heats at Southwell and Sedgefield, and hopefully a couple of interesting runners…

This field contains plenty of potential short runners, and the currently popular Lawyer Des Ormeaux is neither guaranteed fit, nor shown much willing when the chips are down in his chase races. Van Ness and Twenty Degrees make some appeal but HOWARD HOWARD ran well in a stronger race at Leicester last time on ground that would have been plenty soft enough. He should be as fit as a flea now, and with the yard’s horses going well might offer a bit of value on faster ground.

Whilst Nouveau Maire was impressive in winning a similar race here last time and remains essentially unexposed in this type of race, the market reflects that pretty accurately. The one that catches my eye at a huge price is HIGH MORE, who would have needed the race last time out and ran respectably in a decent point at the end of last month before blowing up and fading. Two and half miles on quickish ground looks ideal, and this 7yo is still open to improvement.
