Agreed, RIP every one of those unfortunate horses

But isn’t it noticeable that the list is so much smaller than a week ago, now we’ve had some rain?
Even on courses which have still posted Good to Firm going, the falls seem to have have been less frequent and a lot less damaging, presumably due to the ground being just that little bit eased.
Without wishing for quagmires, though certain horses would love it, let’s hope the slight softening continues into the jumps season proper.
September 10, 2011 at 20:09 #370684Yet this last winter when conditions were pretty heavy was the worst I can remember for fatal falls. I almost hated to check the RP results page. Just can’t figure out why the winter was so bad because, as you say, when conditions ease falls usually improve as far as fatalities go. I usually breathe a sigh of relief when I start seeing good, good to soft, etc, for the going but not this last winter.
Hoping for much better in the coming season.
