How much did you miss racing on the blank day?
A lot, a little, not at all or something else.
September 12, 2025 at 13:33 #1739796Not at all, it wasn’t any different than most midweek racedays or Racing League evenings. Just a day with no racecards, but still plenty of other betting options world wide. I really miss the 90s with no Sunday Racing or no evening Racing on Tuesdays during the busy summer months.
September 12, 2025 at 13:43 #1739797I never bet on non terrestrial racing midweek so didn’t really care.
The more I know the less I understand.
September 12, 2025 at 14:07 #1739798Not at all, prefer to watch the racing from Happy Valley.
September 13, 2025 at 14:41 #1739899Also, I did not miss the blank day. There is far too much racing and most if is rubbish. In the 1970’s/80’s the balance was right. Most punters looked forward to the next meeting at their local track. Now it is impossible to follow racing; the fun has been driven out of it. After the St Leger meeting, we have Newmarket, Ascot and the the biggest French meeting to look forward to. Nothing else. To demonstrate how racing had gone down hill in this country compare the prize money for the Derby and the Arc de Triumph in 1975 and 2025. At one time the Derby has the highest prize money; now look at it!
September 14, 2025 at 10:42 #1739960I was down south catching up with various relatives so not really bothered. A break is needed now and again, and we had a great day at Ascot the previous Friday.
September 14, 2025 at 13:49 #1739982Same as Refuse to bend, didn’t miss it at all as no interest in midweek not aired racing

This is the big issue I have as well.
Too many meetings means too many races.
Too many races means too many horses.
Too many horses potentially leads to fragmented bets resulting in greater confusion for punters who make wrong choices. More loss is inevitable…And the avaricious government wants to put tax up?
**** that!
September 14, 2025 at 14:48 #1739990Same as all the above. Wouldn’t have even noticed it was a blank day if it hadn’t been publicised as a ‘strike’ day.
September 14, 2025 at 14:55 #1739991When the vast majority of us Racing fans believe there’s too much racing, there surely must be too much Racing.
Blank days don’t matter to punters, but maybe this blank day highlighted Racing’s case that this upping of taxation is not fair.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 14, 2025 at 15:05 #1739993Unless anything I like the look at on a racecard, I’ve cut back on watching most of the mid week action… Apart from the odd replay on the better class stuff… Certainly for me betting is at an all time low for horse racing

September 14, 2025 at 16:09 #1740011Didn’t they just reschedule the meetings anyway? Agree with all the comments on here, I don’t follow much beyond the terrestrial stuff and big meetings in Ireland/France now as I don’t bet on any of it, only so much time etc. There was a time I tried to follow the sport closely and its just far too much.

With skill, discipline and plenty of patience I’ve been known to walk away 20 pence up from the Weston Super Mare pier penny pusher machines on a regular basis

September 15, 2025 at 04:49 #1740039Most of my bets are in the lower class races, so I did miss it slightly.
