It seems to me that most if not all racing towns would benefit from cheap out of town park and ride services on racing days. Imagine getting away from Cheltenham without having to sit in the car park for 30mins? Sounds nice doesn’t it?
Apart from that, the congestion in racing towns on race days is chronic. I think all racecourses should operate park and ride services to and from the course. Especially quasi-urban courses like the park courses, and even Newmarket and Epsom.
Opinions?

Let the train take the strain. Use the extra time to study the form, instead of worrying about who you will crash into next.

and how does one get from the train to the course? An HRA run shuttle service would be a good idea don’t you think? :)
If you are going to be spending loads of dosh on course, it wouldn’t cost a lot to put on a shuttle for 40 or so people. A lot better than 40 or so taxis turning up at the course.

Most racecourses run a bus service on racedays connecting the station to the course. You could always go to courses such as Newbury which have their own station. A short walk across a bridge and you are at the track.

Betlarge. When was the last time you caught the train? The nutters are now running the train operating companies. I would be more worried about finding a seat, than who sat next me. It’s still the best way to travel to the races though :o
