If a horse enters the stalls and then refuses to leave the stalls or race, then no way should punters get their money back.
It’s all part of the gamble.

Yes, just like the old classic advert. I recall this actually happening a few years ago for real.

As I said RR,

…However, just because King Johns Castle was placed in the Grand National one year and had never refused to race before – does not make him of good temperament. Inconsistent and lacking resolution in a finish. It’s only to be expected that some also go on to show a lack of resolution at the start – particularly in the heat of Grand National preliminaries. So King Johns Castle’s temperament (including the chance of refusing to race) would be allowed for in the odds offered.
