…..does anyone profit from them or are they just a good read?
Raceform, Timeform, Racing Post and Racing & Football Outlook all publish National Hunt and Flat Annuals and then there are:
‘One Jump Ahead’ (Mark Howard)
‘Jumping Prospects’ (John Morris)
‘Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers to Follow (Racing Ahead)
and ‘Dark Horses’ (Marten Julian)so there’s plenty to choose from.
I have found ‘One Jump Ahead’ to be both well informed and profitable although I’m not sure if I would back every selection blind throughout the season so I’d be interested in the comments and experience of TRF members regarding books of this nature.

Mark Howard said before the season started SPIRIT RIVER was a novice chaser to follow. I agreed with that at the time, but he’s since taken two falls and lost confidence. Should no longer be a "Horse To Follow"….
So following horses blind is never likely to pay. Think they really should be called "Horses Of Potential".Also they highlight horses to too many punters and bookmakers. So are likely to start at reduced odds just because they are in these books. Poor value bets.
I prefer to look through the Timeform Racehorses annual or Chasers And Hurders, or Perspective making my own list.
