As promised the bus from Cambridge to Horseheath for Saturday’s point to point is as follows.

13 and 13A to Haverhill leaving Dummer Street bus station on the hour and the half hour – taking three quarters of an hour. First race 12 noon so you want nothing later than 10.30

For those coming by train. Come out of Cambridge station and walk to the end of the straight road in front of you. Then you will be on Hills Road. Turn left and the first stop you see is the one you want. The bus should be along about five or six minutes after leaving Dummer Street. The last bus back from the village is at 1658.

The course entrance is before you get to Horseheath after Linton. There is a layby opposite at which you may be able to persuade the driver to drop you but remember he is not obliged to as it is not a designated stop. It is about a fifteen to twenty minute walk back from the stop in the village. The grass verge on the main road is fine and wide but may be a bit on the soft side but very safe just take care crossing the road.

Horseheath is a stayers track of almost two complete circuits the best viewing being from the track in the middle or along the fence from the horse entrance to the track along the back of the bookies but the home turn is out of sight here (all fences are seen if a bit head on but you are very close to the finish). There is a very stiff uphill climb from just after 4 out round the home turn right to the line. A really good track and well worth a visit.

Very Useful that, thanks Bbobbell. How many races on Saturday’s card and how much for the bus, car-parking,entrance and card please? Also, how can you be spotted – do you wear a carnation in your lapel!?
    Cheers

Admission costs £10 per head, but under 17s you may have about you get in for free.

It’s currently a seven-race card due to commence at noon. It has attracted 120 entries, and divisions are unlikely with no more than 22 horses entered for any single race.

Ken sorry it is a bit late but look out for the little fat bloke in the grey coat with a flat cap glasses and moustache, both real not a disguise and a red ruck sack with black trims. Tendency to puff a bit when going up hill as well.
