Correct, HDLG. The other trainer on fire today was Ryan Potter who had two winners (11/1 and 20/1) from three runners, with the third one beaten into 3rd place (Jetoile).

I’ll try and note horses whose performances improve for the application of money in here when I see them, so on that note –

The Stuart Williams fix-it-job from the other week, Revolutionise, that was backed from 10s to 3s in the minutes before the off, is out again later today in the 20:00 Chelmsford. 5/2 currently, looks up against a few decent rivals in a seemingly much tougher race than the one he won last time out, but it must be noted that the horse is currently on a mark of 82 and won a very similar race over a year ago off a mark of 90, that race also had what looked like a well fancied hotpot that had also won LTO but Revolutionise won that convincingly receiving a good deal of weight – as the horse will again today. The fav does look decent though and won well recently so can’t exactly write that one off.

The worry could be that the current fav likes to front run and could steal a march, but Revolutionise travelled into the lead powerfully when last seen so I can see him being able to stay with those in the front before kicking away. Another slight worry is that the stables first string jockey, Jason Hart, is on the stables other horse who doesn’t look badly handicapped either. In a 6 runner race it’s always sketchy when a stable has 33% of the field! Could we see similar late money come for the stables second string? Or have they jocked up Joanna Mason on Revolutionise in order to try and keep the price reasonable hoping the horse can win two on the bounce?

Bit of a tricky race, just feel 5/2 is a big price for Revolutionise given how well the horse won the other week, can’t exactly call it an all in job, especially given how regularly I’ve seen late money come for horses recently, seems hard to back anything with confidence until close to the off time when mid-week punting these days.

Ben, if you are tracking all the horses who improve for money, you will be carrying a notebook larger than British Library itself. Conversely, if you track the failed gambles (see Gonzaga at Wolverhampton last Friday) you will have a notebook the size of the Library of Congress. You can’t win!

Haha I know mate don’t worry, I’ll just report the ones I find interesting, I don’t watch the racing every day anyway so I’ll miss the vast majority.

So Revolutionise didn’t get a chance to run last night due to Chelmsford being cancelled. But that’s no worries for the Stuart Williams stable as they just landed a massive gamble in the second at Southwell today. Handicap debutant Arbaawi went off 6/4 favourite having been around 12/1 when the markets opened I believe. It was the Arbaawi’s fourth run and in his previous three runs had been sent off at odds of 28/1, 80/1 and 40/1 and had finished in places 11th, 6th and 13th respectively, certainly the form of a 6/4 favourite lol!!

Fair play, it’s what these low grade AW fixtures are all about sadly.

Stuart Williams was interviewed after the massive gamble sent his winner off at 6/4, he said –

“I don’t think anyone in the yard punted him to be honest. I don’t think the owner’s a gambler, he’s just glad to have a winner. He’s been a big supporter of the yard, he’s had three horses with us recently and the other two weren’t capable of winning so it’s nice to see this one get his head in front.”

    Loooooool

How stupid do these people think we are? Does anyone seriously believe this crap?

Why not ban all owners, trainers jockeys and other racing staff from punting?* I’m sure they won’t mind if they don’t bet anyway.

    *Yes I know

    They should just say it

Like Gordon elliot telling everyone him and the lads are on Chemical energy for the NHC at 66/1 after he won at Cheltenham

The racing post comment should say
‘When asked about the improvement in form the trainer suggested the application of money made the horse run faster’

Stuart Williams is one of the biggest criminals in the game. He’s being doing this crap for over 20 years and he always had the right jockeys for the job, like Fallon, Holland, Spencer, a young apprentice at that time called William Carson, and so on.

Look at his five winners in the past 14 days: 6/4, 1/5, 5/2, 8/11 and 1/3. The other eight runners ALL unplaced. Every time the money is down you know what to expect, otherwise leave them alone.

In 2023, perhaps we should have a dedicated “gamble landed, but no one in the yard will admit to having had a bet” thread.

Can’t see what the fuss is about here, though.

Who among us doesn’t routinely take the 2/1 and 7/4 just before the Off about a horse (returned 6/4) beaten 15 lengths last time out?

    What a game.

    ‘They should just say it’

Honestly, I’d have some respect for them if they did. It’s an insult to our intelligence when they claim they only had two and sixpence on and they have no idea who punted it.

Joking aside, who other than people in the yard is going to force a horse – beaten a total of 40 lengths in its three races to date – down to 6/4 favourite, handicap debut or not.

Huberts Dream won three days ago his third nursery. In his first three flat races he was 12/1, 50/1 and 80/1 before winning his next three starts at 2/1, 1/3 and 1/5….
