I backed Glass Harmonium in the Champions Stakes at Newmarket but the pace was up there with this years Prince of Wales as one of the slowest Group 1 races in last 5/10 years.
I suspect Glassy boy will get a true run affair here and no way is he a 33/1 shot!.
December 10, 2010 at 14:48 #331933Stoutey does have a way of bringing along some good horses slowly, doesn’t he?
December 10, 2010 at 14:54 #331935In this case so slowly that he’s been sold to race in Australia
December 10, 2010 at 23:14 #332004Perhaps, the new owners don’t realise he wouldn’t be used to running upside down….
December 11, 2010 at 07:28 #332032HKJC betting now open, but to very little money until the meeting starts:

Done Sacred Kingdom, Paco Boy, Snow Fairy and Crystal Capella.
December 11, 2010 at 16:35 #332159I’ve just had a small bet on Rocket Man in the sprint, but it’s a very hot race.
December 11, 2010 at 20:32 #332185Took the 66’s Let Me Fight on Tuesday evening – he’s trading at 11/1 on the HK Tote at the moment so fingers crossed I’ve read the HK form right.
Had One World at 50/1 in the race last year and he finished like a train in second so hoping that John Moore can work the magic on another sprinter.
December 11, 2010 at 22:18 #332197Cup….Never won twice by same horse in 23 runnings.
Mile…Able One.
Sprint…Sacred Kingdom.
Vase…Americain.
Please feel free to nit-pickDecember 11, 2010 at 22:50 #332201the HKJC’s race-by-race TV preview (Racing To Win) is now online. click red balls 4,5,7,8 here:

the three english-language pundits (all HK-based aussies)
go:Vase – 2/3 for Redwood
Sprint – each different (Rocket, Sacred, Lucky)
Mile – 3/3 for Thumbs Up
Cup – 3/3 for Snow Fairy
December 12, 2010 at 00:20 #332214Cup…Only 2 fillies have won
December 12, 2010 at 00:40 #332221they’re looking on her as very special, particularly after the turn of foot shown in Japan, on top of the English / Irish Oaks double.
Ed Dunlop very self-effacing in the programme, talking about finding out her best distances, but the aussies are taken with her near-as-dammit-a-win first over 6f and then 7f as evidence of a blistering kick not that common in a distance runner.
Ouija Board is also still big in HK memory, and its not gone unnoticed that he brought her as a 4yo for the Vase whereas he’s bringing this one as a 3yo for the Cup – though Ed says its the Cup for her because they could get Ryan Moore there.
December 12, 2010 at 01:39 #332225It’s not a bad strikerate for fillies considering that male runners outnumber female in a 20 year old race. And they have had plenty of placings as well, as well as wins in the Vase. She’s the big danger to Vision D’Etat for me, and even though Behkabad hasn’t held up the form Planteur has reportedly been working the house down.
I’ll have a bit on Cirrus Des Aigles and Sri Putra. I’m hoping the former can sit outside the leader, and throw out the wet track form with the latter and you have a serious 10f horse.
December 12, 2010 at 02:02 #332226Joshua Tree now scratched from Vase betting, following yesterday lameness report.
still betting on Collection in the Cup.
December 12, 2010 at 02:39 #332227some serious expectations of Ryan Moore in the Jockey Challenge betting.
despite him riding in only 4 of the 10 races on the card, he is fifth favourite at 25. and the four above him in the betting are each riding in 8 or 9 of the races.
jockeys are awarded 12 points for a win, 8 for second and 4 for third.
normally takes about 32 points to win it.
December 12, 2010 at 05:34 #332228Light sprinkles of rain falling at Sha Tin.
Xtension ran a nice closing fourth in his HK debut over 7f.
Track is riding fairly evenly, no complaints so far. -
