you like your compact cities Paul
Without putting you off Vancouver is pelasant rather than memorable but make sure you go whale watching. Best from Victoria on Vancouver island. Its largely Orcas…and never to be forgotten
Cheers Clive
Probaly something to do with being a lazy git and not wanting to have to walk too far – I always say the best way to explore a City is on foot so I like compact!!
Whale watching is definitely on the agenda – the one we were looking at comes out of Port Hardy on the north of the island and is a full day trip combining both whale and bear watching.
Of course there will also be a days racing at Hastings Park whilst we are there as well.
July 31, 2008 at 11:38 #175516Well, where to start!
Jacintha and I spent a simply sublime week in a hovel in the middle of Mongolia, with nothing but our toothbrushes, a change of underwear and our American Express cards….etc
Quality!!
July 31, 2008 at 11:44 #175517We went to all-inclusive to Tunisia a couple of years ago, it was the worst place I have ever been. The food was rotten, the people were lazy thieves and pedophiles.
You could tell they were lazy thieves on account of how they did virtually no thieving ~ the indolent feckers.
July 31, 2008 at 11:45 #175518Nice one andrew
Reminds me a bit of when my Oxbridge brother went through a social climbing phase a few years back (bless him)
Came back from a French cottage and "you know what, it was a half hour drive to get a bottle of milk!"
I told him he should of bollocked the agency and got a refund

I only said that on account of the stuff missing from the room, aftershave, perfume and little girl’s watch.
July 31, 2008 at 14:14 #175547Try that 4 or 5 times a month, crizzy
, at least you had UC on the way back, unlike ourselves who have to make do with a few hours in the bunk
The ¨Christmas¨ hotel is a Love Hotel
(do a Wiki!). The bar sounds like the Flyers Bar, did you see the pictures of the topless cabin crew on the walls? If you thought the NRT trip was an eye opener get your mate to take you on a 9 day HKG – SYD

He has asked me on the HK Syd trip but my mrs won’t let me go for that long!! Do you still fly for Virgin?
July 31, 2008 at 14:23 #175551No crizzy. 7 years of longhaul and commuting was enough for me. It is totally knackering and takes over your whole life. Happy to be back on shorthaul, you wouldnt believe how good it is to be in your own bed more than 6 months a year. Still have mates there, planning to tag along on a HKG – SYD in December.
I dont blame your Mrs, the divorce rate is horrific!

July 31, 2008 at 19:44 #175586I feel like quite the seasoned traveller this year! We’ve just got back from a once in a lifetime trip (well hopefully twice if I can work on hubby) to the US. Fabulous! We started in New York in a little hotel in Times Square and fell in love with the place. Then we had a days train journey to Niagara Falls so we could sit back in business class and soak up the scenery. Got drenched in a boat under the falls, spent wedding anniversary in a revolving restaurant overlooking said falls and crossed into Canada too.
Then on again by train to Albany: beautiful city and on to Boston where we went whale watching, saw whales, didn’t get sea sick.
It was wonderful apart from the flights which I loathe.then tomorrow we’re off to London for a long weekend spending money we’ve already spent in America, and in a couple of weeks we’ll be spending a week with me Mum & Dad by the sea in Southwold.
It’s hardly worth unpacking the suitcase…

August 1, 2008 at 02:33 #175628Next week I shall be in the home of the Black Swan, eating extra large portions of carrot cake from the bent sounding shop.
If I see any children harassing a podgy woman with lank hair… then I shall laugh

Graysonscolumn – officially really annoying in four languages (English, German, Dutch and LOLcat)
