Well, what sort of ride did Neil Callan give The Cheka there!! I am 100% positive had Frank been on him he would have won! Maybe the horse is a tricky ride, i do not know but Mr Callan did not exactly ride for his life!!
May 17, 2012 at 09:04 #404402Well not so good at York but onwards and upwards. Today i am hoping for a trio of ‘F’s led by the Champ himself Fallon.
130:
410: Newcomers galore here but last season saw Mr Channon take 2 events and I am willing to take a chance on
Trixie for me on the following also:200: I backed
230: Tricky little race here with Bonfire and the much touted Ernesthemingway BUT they are forgetting that Guineas form generally stands firm throughout the season!
300: Cannot desert FURY especially after Global Village boosted the form on Saturday by winning the Victoria Cup easily!Good luck all who venture into the betting markets
May 29, 2012 at 10:41 #405898With Epsom very nearly here I am struggling to work as the Downs Bug is pulling me into checking form all day and trying to find a few winners! I love the meeting and generally do well as I follow trainers who often do well there!
However, the cat may already be out of the bag with a Mel Brittain runner today in the first at Ripon. Despite there being an odds on favourite the yard are having a go at DREAM SCENARIO who has been working very well at home. If he takes to the course they are expecting a win! There do not look to be any ‘hot shots’ in the race so hopefully he will place at least.
Good luck all
May 29, 2012 at 13:23 #405916Well that was a nice introduction, not beaten far and placed at 20s is a good return
May 31, 2012 at 14:47 #406159The time is nigh for my good self and my faithful companion to make the annual pilgrimage to the Epsom Downs via Stevenage.
Excitement has been brewing for a long time and at last we are down to hours before we travel

I shall give you a few to consider backing and also some that I personally feel should not be touched with a barge pole and the reasons why!
Oaks Day generally let’s us know what to look for on the main Day but there are a couple of bets that may be worth placing. Deffo take a chance on the PPot, leave the odds on favourites out if in fields of 8 or more!
140: Mr Balding thinks the world of
215: Horses for courses here with
250: Could not back any horse ridden by Adrian Nicholls even if I was told it was a guaranteed winner!325: Moones My Name will hopefully go well but I will also be backing
405:
450: Lady Gorgeous if she is a price win and in a couple of FC.525: Mr Fallon has a very good strike rate when riding for Mark Johnston so VAN ELLIS should go well and Prince Alzain is my EW selection.
The Derby Day Main Event:
135:
205: Never do well in this race, I shall be backing Chilworth Icon EW. Heavy Metal must be a lay after struggling to win LTO despite the yard liking this course!315:
THE DERBY has cut up and has the least amount of runners in many, many years, very disappointing. BONFIRE is my EW shot after the sad demise of Parish Hall whom I was very sweet on!450: Great betting event with
and this one has course form too! If Seaside Sizzler is fit (he should be from this yard) he could go very close FTO and will be finishing best of all.525: I like
Good Luck all and hopefully we will knock those bookies for six
May 31, 2012 at 17:27 #406178GDC your obviously an ‘Epsom Specialist’ so will be looking closely at your advice, certainly like the look of Laytime, think she could have a big season, hopefully starting tomorrow!
Have a great weekend and good luck.
June 1, 2012 at 14:45 #406254Hope some of you followed me in and got 13/2 about chain of events last night. Great start to meeting with mr Balding going great guns
come on Vow or Colima. My best mates dad has a 20p ew lucky 15 consisting of Clinical, Gatewood, Highland Knight all going on to Shirocco Star in the Oaks! Already won over £65 bar and could win over a grand from a £6 bet, fingers crossed
June 1, 2012 at 15:13 #406256Your mate must be crying, so close Shirocco Star!
June 1, 2012 at 15:48 #406261That’s the funny thing mate, he isn’t we all are lol he’s more than happy to get three winners!
June 6, 2012 at 10:06 #407063Well what an awesome day at the races Saturday was. Weather was well murky in the morning but very hot in the afternoon once the sun broke through.
What a great day for the clan O’Briens! Sir Nic was never in trouble and Camelot won as expected after the sad demise of his only real challenger the week before!
Pants: I hope you see now why I watch Oaks Day and see how things go and then kick in properly on Derby Day. Also I got some majestic prices Fri evening courtesy of Billys who really messed up 2 races! The wonder of Oddschecker

Quick resume of how things went for me:
135: My main win bet turned into an EW steal after Billys went 11/2 for a short while Fri evening, this was the first of their ‘cock ups’ as most firms were 4s!
205: The race I struggle with every year, time and time again getting 2nd! It looked almost certain that this would happen again but I felt Heavy Metal would not be suited to Epsom (wrong on that count) but Martin Harley has proved this season what a great little jovkey he is, the ride on
240: No real fancy here but when 2 bookies went 4/5 about Sir Nicholas Abbey a ‘ton’ was despatched and happily £80 was won and paid for the beer for the week-end.315: The race i love more than any other ended in disaster as my ante post bets all crumbled and ran very poorly
Lost £40 on course.400: With the winner ‘Parish Hall’ injured my only bet was Bonfire who ran like a drain! Didn’t stay but also did not run well! Had a small double with Camelot and SNA which obviously came in.
450: The race that paid for the holiday
I love oddschecker and advise anyone who does not use it to start! Billys again made a hyge cluster here, most firms were offering 7s and 8s about
525: Main bet of Noverre to Go disappointed but when Lui Rai (who i believed wanted soft) went to 12s I had to have a tenner EW. Backed 3 in the race purely because I was pissed but still ended up winning.
There ya go, that’s why I love Epsom and why I study all year round for it! The same trainers perform very well here and the same jockeys do well and the same ones disappoint time after time!!
Kieron Fallon, Luke Morris, William Buick and add Martin Harley on the plus side.
Do not touch Paul Hanagan or FRank Spencer! For such good jockeys they just cannot ride Epsom!
Bring on 2013
